My red pill moment came from listening to that exactly column on the Epoch Times.

I was skeptical about president Tump to say the least. After reading that column I was never the same. It was one of the biggest "Aha" moments of my life.

Can't recommended it enough (Written / Audiobook):

So, I really thought he (President Donald Trump) was dumb and also dangerous...
But reading a book from the Epoch Times (How the specter of communism is ruling our world) this winter/February really opened my eyes (LINK)

Interesting, I got red pilled after living in Switzerland. It was during the Reagan years and I would read the International Herald Tribune. I thought he was a madman and we were doomed. Any time it would be WW3. After time passed I realized after we flew over France's airspace and bambed Gaddafi's palace there was no war and there were no more terror attacks until Reagan was out of office. He kept peace by scaring the countries to death. Later idiots invaded Afghanistan and Iraq over terror attacks. No one benfitted and the attacks did not stop. I realized the media had always lied. When they all hated Trump I investigated him deeper because I figured anyone they hated that much was good for the world. I was right

FamburgerHelper 94 points ago +94 / -0

I turned off MSM in late 2015 or early 2016 when I was still a Berner. (I know, people ask, how could you support that old Commie? But I was a Democrat and there was no alternative, voting for Crooked Hillary was never a option.) They lied or under reported about Bernie, focusing all their attention on Crooked.

When Trump won the nomination, even without actually watching fake news, they completely turned on Donald Trump with a vengeance that reverberated throughout the universe.

That was my red pill. You know when you're watching a film and the music suddenly changes and your adrenaline spikes? That's what it was like when fake news turned on Trump.

34

24

Ya it's crazy how much they loved him before he started running. He was on TV all the time, doing talk shows, that nowadays exclusively shit all over the President of the United States every day.

11
AngelMark 11 points ago +11 / -0

"I was a Democrat and there was no alternative." The alternative WAS TRUMP!

10
FamburgerHelper 10 points ago +10 / -0

I know, I voted for him! I meant within the D party.

3
ordinary_love 3 points ago +3 / -0

The media redpilled me too. I think the straw that broke the camel’s back was when Vox did a piece lambasting The_Donald. Then I came here, and the examples of completely bullshit press coverage became obvious. And then you realize that every...single...story...is that dishonest. And the rest is history.

3
PositiveEnergy 3 points ago +3 / -0

My story is similar. I was a Bernout in 2015. Voted Dem for 30 years. Lots of former Bernie supporters woke up the last election. For me, when Brexit happened, I knew instantly Bernie had no chance to win. I saw how the DNC stole the nomination from Bernie and then he cowered and bought a house. I voted Trump in 2016.

My red pill moment was when Trump won.

I voted for Hillary, but I felt that Trump winning was a nice fuck you to those in power. An actual tension lifted from my shoulders, and I laughed.

It wasn’t until months later with the help of Trump’s Twitter Army, shared links from a trusted friend on Facebook, and my own personal reflection that my father meant well but was dead wrong that I realized that I was a Trump supporter.

I don’t think that I was red-pilled. I’d like to think that I was Reborn American.

32

Same . I grew up in New York and when I was like 13 I asked my dad if he was a Democrat. He answered with the most disgusted reaction "Hell No". It blew my mind becuase I thought the Democrats were the good ones. But because my dad has always been the most logical and rational person I ever met i knew i didnt understand something . I didnt judge him like the left did. I went and studied for myself.

Late 2016/early 2017 I distinctly remember thinking "Damn, why is every single story about Trump negative? Why is there not a single positive news story over several months?"

I looked up a speech or press even t he was doing, and finally watched it live. Thats all it took, I was team Trump immediately because I instantly realized I was being lied to everyday, in every way about Trump.

THIS!! Every single one of them! Its like people are too fucking retarded to do their own research, they just want to be lazy and have information fed into them. Critical thinking is TOO HARD

29
ClownTamer 29 points ago +29 / -0

Mine was similar. I didn’t follow the news much, but I kept hearing Trump was saying the craziest things from people here in the Bay Area based on CNN and other places. “ALL IMMIGRANTS ARE RAPISTS!!!” I thought that was kind of silly and couldn’t see why anyone would say that so I looked into it and just watched what he said. Completely different.

Then on a dating site I read people arguing about Trump and they mentioned The_Donald on Reddit. They kept saying “look, I get what you’re saying, but just look at The_Donald. Just read some of that for a bit and you’ll see.” So I did. And I did see. It was a rollercoaster from there.

I knew the MSM were very liberal, but I wasn’t expecting them to go full on Fake News and lie so much. Then I looked at Trump’s relevant internet numbers and realized he had a chance. People here tried tearing the city down when he won, having setup large parties for a Hillary win. I knew we had illegals here, but found out along the way that there are hundreds of thousands of them according to our own numbers, if not more since those are liberal numbers.

6
magabigleague2 6 points ago +6 / -0

During the primaries I didn't really have time to watch MSM so I only listened to the unadulterated speeches from Trump. One day I had more free time and decided to turn on CNN and immediately went "WTF?", I had just finished listening to the speech they were referring to and they had twisted everything about it. That was my biggest red pill. I went from seeing nothing wrong with CNN to my entire world being turned upside down. That was when I saw MSM was just fucking lies.

Watching my idiot peers in college vote for a man based on the color of his skin and promises of free sh!t in 2012. For me it was the arrest of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert one or two days after the side of beef took “responsibility” for the unsecured server on which she conducted all state department business. The crime Hastert was arrested for had occurred 20 (?) years earlier. The political establishment knew about this crime and kept it in their pocket until they needed it to bump something else off the front page. That was when I finally accepted that our political establishment was corrupt to the core.

From not mentioning him in polls even though he was ranking near the top, changing graphics to leave him out or have him near the bottom, never showing his crowds, never speaking his name or just giving him 1 min talk time during a debate.

ALL the shit they tried on Trump. Difference is, Ron's not Trump. Trump will hit back twice as hard with no filter.

34
deadbeaf 34 points ago +34 / -0

I didn't vote in 2016. Ive never voted in my 9 years of eligibility. I've always believed Red/Blue are two sides of the same evil, and both are controlled by unseen forces that move the world direction.

So of course I never paid attention to MSM anyways. But that all changed when the Corona hoax landed. I became interested in watching th Corona briefings because I was looking for positive news as it related to businesses reopening.

Still didn't care one way or the other for Trump.

But that all changed after watching these briefings and then seeing how they were reported on right after they ended. I remember thinking to myself, how can they possibly try and spin this when I just now watched it live? How can they possibly expect me to take this seriously when I very literally JUST saw what happened? That was really the moment for me. When I could see how overtly dishonest most media publications were.

It didn't take long to see that they had been doing this to Trump ever since he entered the political sphere. So while I still maintain my belief that Red/Blue are globalist tools for division, it appears to me that Trump is outside of this, as it's so obvious they are working so hard to remove him

22

In the 1980s, I was in college getting my physics degree. I never watched TV or read the newspaper during this time because I was studying. I assumed as I had been told forever that Republicans are simply evil, end of story. I didn't care.

But in the back off my mind it head nagged me. Why were they evil? Oh, well. Whatever.

And then I looked back in my mind on all the Midwesterners (I'm from California) I had ever met. They always seemed nice. And I thought, vaguely, what if it's a lie?

During the first Iraq war I worked at an electronics factory in Sacramento. They played Rush Limbaugh on the radio every day, taking about the war and Bill and Hillary Clinton. He was making a lot of sense. At some point the dam broke, and I've been a nonleftist ever since.

So, it was Rush and the Clintons and just plain old growing older and reasoning that did it.

My red pill moment came back in '94, then the media and Democrats really went hard-core tantrum after getting swept from power in Congress for the first time in ~40 years. The air of royal entitlement to use power, coupled with Hillary's screeching "Vast right-wing conspiracy!" every chance she got, turned me off the Left for good.

My Trump moment came after he soundly thrashed my preferred candidate (the based Ben Carson), and turned around and made Ben an important part of his campaign. Carson knew he'd been brutally outflanked, admitted it like a man, and immediately got on the Trump train. I did, too - before most of my family did. I've been on the Trump train ever since!

I had an Amazon Fire tablet that came with Washington Post on it pre-installed. Every morning, it would send me a headline about "Chaos in Trump's White House!" or "Explosive New Bombshell For Russian Collusion!" For a while, I legit believed that Trump and Putin worked together to hack the election. No joke.

Then I started actually reading the articles. The funny thing about MSM news articles is they always have a paragraph towards the bottom where they actually admit that the entire thing is complete bullshit.

I started actually researching the Russian collusion thing and quickly found out that it was all made up.

The media overplaying their hand every time is causing their downfall.

I have always been a conservative but the way the media attacks Trump every day with lies and omitting news to protect the Democrats is what solidified my resolve. The left lies and their ideas always fail. The Left always has an ulterior motive. But we know who they are. Fuck commies, Democrats, and all traitors to the American people and way of life.

13
JetJocky 13 points ago +13 / -0

The Kennedy assassination made me suspicious of the possibility that an inner government force might exist to promote their own agenda. That was reinforced when the 3 networks (that's all we had) parroted each other to try and get Nixon out of office. The double standard was nauseating. I knew right then the deep state was real.

Since that time Reagan was the only decent President we've had until now when we were lucky enough to get Trump. All the rest of them were establishment uni-party globalists who did the bidding of the deep state. I truly believe Trump has given us one last chance to save this country.

5
Kolob 5 points ago +5 / -0

And Reagan chose bad VPs. Thank heaven for Pence.

3
JetJocky 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes he did. Reagan was considered an outsider (sounds familiar) so he did that to bring along the establishment before the election. GHW Bush was a snake of the first order.

2
Kolob 2 points ago +2 / -0

Also the media hysteria over Reagan was just as bad. Now the D's are embracing him, kind of annoying. Even with snakes leading him astray Reagan overall was an excellent president. Bill Clinton also got some things right as he was pragmatic and totally unprincipled and did some things like welfare reform because they work. Clinton also did some very bad things which is very well documented. I can think of no positives from the Bush/Obama years

13
JoePCool14 13 points ago +13 / -0

It's so touching to see all these red pill stories. Really crazy to think some of the people here were supporting Bernie and/or Hillary just a few years ago (or less!). That being said, I'm so happy people like you have woken up to the truth of our country. I've been right-leaning and conservative my entire 19 year-old life. It's all thanks to my parents. I didn't like Obama even as an 8 year old!

All jokes aside, the run up to 2016 is where I really dove into politics. I loved watching the Republican debates, and while I wouldn't start browsing TD on Reddit until last year, I loved watching everything. Ever since politics has been the thing I follow the most. My mission is to drop red pills off wherever I can.

I think what solidified my positions was simply listening to the ideas of the Left and going "That's stupid. Why would we give money to people for being lazy and not working?" That, and also getting tired of the newspeak like "undocumented immigrant". I started watching conservative YouTubers: ComputingForever (back when he was mostly a tech channel years ago), Black Pigeon Speaks, Mark Dice, Paul Joseph Watson, Zeducation, etc.

I'm firmly in the pro-American camp, and I will be casting my first presidential vote this November come hell or high Chinese flu for President Donald J. Trump.

2016 Republican primaries did it for me. Having DJT on stage giving real answers and not some canned soundbite was the most refreshing thing I've ever seen. I firmly believe he saved our country from complete destruction that would have happened if crooked Hillary had won or some other Republican shill. God bless our great country and GEOTUS!

For me, it was more like the slow drip of a red IV that had been hooked into the back of my neck without me knowing it, that was going for years. But the absolute "Okay, fuck the left, these guys are absolutely just using people for their own ends" moment was when before his election, Barack Obama was the Mixed Candidate for everyone, and then one second later after he's elected he's the Black President for Black People and Fuck Whitey. I was like "Wait a second, I didn't vote for him, but I also didn't vote against him, I don't think I'm even registered, honestly, but-" but nope, fuck me, I'm "White" (Despite being Mediterranean and the people who are screaming Fuck Whitey are actually whiter, and more affluent, than I am, but I'm the one who needs to acknowledge my overwhelming privilege, after all I DID grow up the son of a single mother who moved pretty much every year as we could never afford to buy a house.)

Identity Politics did it. It wasn't about "Yes we can," there was no "We." "We" was just a euphemism for "The Party," and when "The Party" decided you were outside it, then FUCK YOU. I was never one of them, and I'd never be one of them, but I'd give them the time of day if they asked in the street and treat them with the same dignity and respect that I'd give to anyone. Now anyone I see with a Karl Marx Buttplug in their mouth gets no time, no how.

Way to read between the lines.

It's a useful skill.

Gamergate. It really opened my eyes to just how much lying journalists do, and get away with, and how coordinated it is.

Should look up “JournoList” if you want to see how coordinated the MSM is when it comes to deciding what we’re allowed to know and what we’re not.

Gamergate had a journo list too. So scummy. Completely undermines any notion of competition between news outlets and the quality of the information suffers accordingly.

Red pill moment for me was when all the DNC emails came out that they were actively working against Bernie. It was the first "hmm maybe they're not the good guys" but then blatantly revealed all the rest of the corruption and hypocrisy staring at you in plain sight. A lot of my friends are still blinded to all this and continue to support Dem no matter what but I see now all the power players in the party are in it for their own enrichment and their families, not for the American people. To be fair I thought a lot of the Republicans were like that too when I was getting into politics (Bush, Cheney, McCain, Romney) so I loathed them. But now I feel the voice of the Republican party speaks way more for the people and our freedoms than anyone else

At least the non-NWO Republicans. I love Trump but I'm no friend of Republicans simply because they wear a red tie, rather than a blue one.

To be fair, you were 100% right about those Republicans. RINOs do not skate free here!

It was building for awhile, but "the moment" for me was after Charlottesville. There was a free speech rally held in Boston a few days later. It had already been planned prior to the whole Charlottesville debacle and had nothing to do with it. A mob of thousands of screaming leftists descended on the event and ran the free speech advocates off. The Boston Globe headline was "Triumph over Hate." Oh really? That's what that was? So we're not allowed to advocate publicly for free speech without being called hateful racists by a major news publication?

That was the moment when I realized how bad the situation actually is.

Everyone in Austin who I assumed were intelligent and rational human beings freaking out like it was the end of the world when Trump won the presidency. Some of them even said that he'll take my rights away because I'm black. After that I began a two year process of understanding conservatives, and over time came to the conclusion that I had a lot in common with the "enemy."
