I’m sure a lot of you have read ‘Art if the Deal’ but I just picked it up this afternoon finally because it’s a nice day to read a book on the deck, and a few pages in, the story about buying Mar-A-Lago from the Post Foundation which they wanted $25 mil, Trump offered $15 right off the bat, they declined, and each time a higher offer came in that fell through, Trump lowered his offer. The sob ended up getting the place for $8 mil and recent estimates value it at over $160 mil which probably doesn’t even include the allure that it was a Presidential retreat. Unbelievable, from now on, when anybody says “yeah, but he’s a complete idiot.” I’ll remember that and I’m sure there’s more gems.

Well said. The cognitive dissonance is startling. “His ineptitude caused this pandemic” yet Dem governors are praising him because there are too many hospital beds, ventilators, and PPE. “he’s got a 3rd grade vocabulary” but he also collided with Russia to steal the election. “He’s so dumb he bankrupted casinos.” Meanwhile, “he only ran a successful campaign for President and got elected to line his own pockets with money.” “Trump’s going to start WW3” also “he briefly talked to NK Dictator and pulled troops from Syria/Turkey, he doesn’t care about our close allies.” “What’s he gonna do wave a major wand to bring jobs back?” “Trumps trade war is hurting farmers.” “Trump tax cuts ONLY help the rich.” while they received the lowest reduction in their tax bracket, like 2% and the vast majority of everyone else got a much larger tax break, plus for many in the top 1%, in certain states SALT causes them to pay even more than pre-2018. “Trump doesn’t care about affordable healthcare” and my personal health insurance dropped from $600/month to $240/month and the deductible went from $5000 down to $1000 plus I have dental. The list continues to grow.

Yes, and also on my old ACA plan, I, a man, was paying for maturity care as well, and probably somebody’s gender reassignment or as Rush always called it: an ‘AddadicktoMe’ procedure. Meanwhile, I had a co-worker paying $24/month for BCBS Gold plan (my premium was for BCBS Catastrophic/Bronze I believe) my premium for BCBS Gold would’ve been over $1000/month and it just wasn’t worth it since I never go to the doctor. Last time I visited an urgent care place was about 3 weeks ago because I scratched my cornea cutting tall shrubs. They gave me prescription drops, I paid $25 co-pay like the good ole days, so I’m completely happy since I have usable insurance now. Not quite as good as the pre-ACA days where I got the ‘Gold’ plan for just $100/mo but still. For the Record, idk what Blue Cross is charging these days or if they’re even still operating in NC, this is some subsidiary of Cigna that I got from randomly obliging a cold caller, but hey, it works that’s all I’m concerned about!

As a group, the only set of taxpayers that paid more income taxes after the changes were..... people making more then $1M. Yes, you read that correctly. Because of other changes (like the SALT deduction limitation), the "rich" actually paid more taxes. Individually, some people in each group paid more and some paid less. But, those were outliers.

What did you hear from the Misleadia? crickets

FYI, Trump simply made a bad call by buying a casino at that particular time. It wasn't mismanagement... a BUNCH of casinos went bankrupt around that time, as the gaming industry was hurting.

The NJ Casino scene DIED. It had nothing to do with DJT. All his bankruptcies were good moves.

Before Vanity Fair hated Donald J. Trump, they loved him. They have a great article about Trump buying Mar-a-Lago. He got it for a song after he told the Post sisters that he bought the rights to buy the beach in front and was planning on building a house that would block the view.

The link to this story was shadowbanned on Speddit. They even shadowbanned the archive links to it. I posted it all the time and never got more than a few upvotes.

Hey, thanks very much for this link, can’t wait to read it shortly. That’s an interesting detail that wasn’t mentioned so far in the book. Just mentioned vague details and that the Post heiress has donated the property to the gov for a Presidential retreat after her death, the govt didn’t want it and gave (or sold idk) back to the Post Foundation, so I can’t wait to read more about it. Didn’t he run across a prior airspace/view situation that caused litigation with Tiffany’s to build Trump tower? At least that’s what I’ve always heard for years. Also, appreciate the jive lingo, reminds me of an example sentence on Urban Dictionary: “There’s a cat on 55th selling elbows for a song.”
