I saw the OP of this on Twitter yesterday. Apparently this cop is currently being investigated for 3 separate instances of brutality, but he gets to keep working.

Also, inb4 “don’t square up to cops.” While that may be true, the guy was only yelling things. There was no reason for this asshole to escalate by even approaching the guy who’s yelling things. He got his feelings hurt and used his badge to do something about it. Plain and simple.

So where are Black Lives Matter. I mean a guy got kicked out of a Starbucks and there was a shitstorm. This happens and its really fucked up and i've seen nothing. I don't do reddit anymore but I'd bet if I did there are plenty of posts over there takig the cop's side because "saving lives".

BLM was hijacked by the left, like metoo, anything the left touches turns to literal shit. The left is King Midas in reverse

4
JwPATX 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think the guy who posted it may be BLM. I think eventually the cops are going to have blm, antifa, and patriots on the same side of a riot..

I'm extremely disappointed with the police and their follow all orders mindset. I don't care who is telling you to do it, if you're one of these cops you're violating your oath. The constitution isn't just a document that you ignore because the city told you to.

If you are one of these types of cops shame on you, you are a disgrace

And KUDOS to the Sheriff refusing to violate the Constitution...

this is the correct response unless you have equal or more backup (and social support) than they do. You will not win going against them on their turf. They can kill you and get off way easier than the other way around.

Too many people will just stand around and watch if you do anything and you would be instantly vilified by the media for killing the cop.

LeftistsAreInsane 11 points ago +13 / -2

I've seen a lot of people ask that question, and it's not easy, but here are my thoughts.

If an officer is not questioning me and is not detaining me/arresting me, but suddenly attacks me the way that cop did, I'm going to defend myself. Period. No questions asked, no warnings given. Now, I would not have allowed that cop to get that close to me after seeing how aggressive he was (the kid's first mistake, I'd argue), and that would have definitely changed the situation, but as soon as the first punch was thrown I'm going to try to put down the cop fast and get him in an arm lock (face down, hopefully) before he can do any serious damage.

I know some people are going to say, "But you'll get shot!" Well, not by that cop, if I'm successful. And what are my other choices? Get my brains beaten in and possibly die or get seriously injured? Fuck that, I'm going down with a fight.

5
progressives4Trump 5 points ago +5 / -0

Get that close? What are you going to do, run away? Now you're evading arrest.

6
LeftistsAreInsane 6 points ago +7 / -1

Wrong. I watched the video, and unless I missed something, the officer never said that kid was under arrest. He approached the kid, got in his face, then started saying things along the lines that he was going to kick the kid's ass. The kid should have taken a few steps back at that point. If an officer does not tell you that you are under arrest, then you are not under arrest. Thus, you cannot evade arrest.

5
stratocaster_patriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

No. They said, "if the cop is not detaining me/arresting me" it is then not resisting arrest.

2
TheInky 2 points ago +2 / -0

"Am I being detained, and if so what reason?" What should one do if a cop is getting close and tells me to move?

0
LeftistsAreInsane 0 points ago +0 / -0

I'd recommend doing exactly what I said before. Take a few steps back, at least. Cop or not, never let an aggressive person get that close to you. You're likely to get sucker punched or caught off guard.

2
Scroon 2 points ago +3 / -1

For future reference, the pushback will need to occur en masse. Single individuals resisting will only get themselves arrested, injured, or killed.

With that in mind, however, it's these brave individuals who will motivated the masses to finally act.

Which is exactly why the Dems are clamping down so hard.

The want an explosion soo bad. Watch how fast the Democrat governors will call in the national guard and tell them to crack heads if it happens.

THEN shit will hit the fan, and I could really see politicians getting dragged out of their home and beaten.

4

you are probable right that they want civil unrest, crack down, then get everyone to calm down and take more power in the process. But they are playing a very very dangerous game, it is a very thin line between civil unrest and uncivil war.

I'm a cop for a large agency. We're not enforcing any of this stuff in my state despite a stay home order. Vast, vast majority of cops are hard core conservatives who value freedoms and just wanna catch bad guys. The bad examples you've seen are almost always in blue cities, right?

Gotta pick where you live carefully I guess.

7
Ucanttakeskyfromme 7 points ago +7 / -0

Thank you for not enforcing these illigal orders and for speaking up. More officers need to speak up against the bad officers and departments doing these things.

And what the hell is going on with all these retarded police all over the country who are intimidating, fining, arresting, and brutalizing citizens over what amounts to NOTHING?!?!

3

I support Blue, I'm thankful for what the police do in my community but yeah...you aren't my friend piggy I don't know you. I have to treat you like just another asshole with a badge. I don't care how good of a cop you are if you tread on me and the law finds I'm right I'm pointing the finger at YOU. YOU were the cop that had me in cuffs when I didn't actually break the law. That's not a "good cop" thing.

Can't you tell all of the folks are essential workers. Please don't ever wear flip flops with socks or you may get tased. Odd how the camera happened to miss shit popping off and they always start in the middle of a scuffle never showing what happened before.

-1
Smurfection -1 points ago +2 / -3

I think most cops are our friends but sometimes they make mistakes and some of them aren't good people.

That being said, the little bystander guy didn't look like a threat to me and I hope he got his shoes back.

-4
MAGAholic -4 points ago +2 / -6

This thread is bullshit. These cops are working in liberal shitholes. Remember the video of cops being assaulted with water bottles and buckets from a few months ago? This is NYC. Thats how it is now.

From the video, a strange dude in all black was approaching. The cop confronted, told him to get back. The guy initially listened it seems but then changes his mind and squares up. Thats on him. Hes taken down. The second slap when the guy is on the ground is excessive (but not enough to warrant this thread and some of the reactions). But the initial takedown is not.

Nowhere in the video does this imply its a social distancing bust either so im not sure where thats coming from.

"No cop is our friend" is anti law enforcement rhetoric that I expect on /news or another equally liberal sub.

Reddit2016 -6 points ago +7 / -13

Wait, maybe I'm missing something but they looked like they were trying to arrest someone and people started getting involved in the arrest. Why would you square off with a cop while he's struggling to arrest someone? We watch officers get doused in water and buckets thrown at their heads and get disrespected daily on the job. It's the hardest job in the world without having to deal with assholes who try to engage them in the middle of an arrest.

12
Fictatious 12 points ago +14 / -2

Reading the article and watching the video shows 1: There's reason to believe they weren't breaking the law in the first place 2: it was brutal enforcement of the social distancing (which is an unconstitutional law in effect) 3: the cop walked up to the guy yelling NOT the other way around then tackled him and BEAT him cause he got defensive. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and you just didn't read it but this comes off hard as concern trolling

-3
stratocaster_patriot -3 points ago +2 / -5

That's not what happened though. Cop was yelling for him to keep his distance and the guy quickly closed that distance with his fists doubled up. That's why he got taken down and that's exactly what I would have done. That doesn't mean social distancing enforecement isn't bullshit but this guy clearly got up in an officer's face after being warned and that's also bullshit.

1
Fictatious 1 point ago +1 / -0

The cop pointed the taser at him, guy stopped, cop continued to close distance for no reason then assaulted him. That + the assault happening behind them it's full on abuse of power and police brutality. Also the guy was pissed you naturally take an aggressive stance like that when mad ++ this cop is currently under investigationg for three other assaults. You're either a concern troll or willfully ignorant

1
stratocaster_patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Dude I watched the video. As much as you want to hate the cop the dude walked up into the cops face with doubeld up fists. Most people are smart enough not to do that especially after being told to walk away. How does that make me a concern troll. How does that make you right and me ignorant? You actually sound like a lefty when you add that he's currently under investigation (not to mention the name calling). I don't give a shit what people claim about him. If I'm a cop making an arrest and tell you to keep your distance and you come up on me quick with your fists I'm immediately giving you the beat down. There was no assault going on at any point in this video. Sorry you just hate cops but that has nothing to do with me or what happened in this video.

2
Fictatious 2 points ago +2 / -0

Don't claim to know anything about me, my grandfather was a cop and my uncle was a cop I have the utmost respect for law abiding and protecting cops this cop attacked the dude straight up. There's plenty of ways the cop could have handled it without beating this shit out of the guy. "You sound like a lefty bringing up his investigations" it's a relevant fact.

I do apologize for the name calling however. All this shit has had me on full offensive for like a straight month and I've become a little easy to aggitate cause of it.

1
stratocaster_patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

-4
Reddit2016 -4 points ago +5 / -9

Not a troll, but concerned that these videos are not only deceiving but also illicit the wrong response because we are not against POs in this sub. This is one of the hardest jobs right now so let's not try to make it about the POs against us.

5
Fictatious 5 points ago +7 / -2

Currently in a lot of these democrat citites it is turning into us against them. Don't get me wrong I don't blanket cover all cops but absolute thugs like these should be more than just locked in prison for this shit.

0
Reddit2016 0 points ago +3 / -3

I'm not advocating that we give bad cops a pass, but seems like there is a clear push on the sub lately to hate cops. That's not us here on the donald win. Just remember, not all cops.

1
Fictatious 1 point ago +1 / -0

I know not all cops but these events shiw just how many are either only in it for the paycheck or chomping at the bit all the time to try and use their power

0
Pickinpox 0 points ago +2 / -2

That is the goal of RT though. This is nothing new, divide and conquer. We need to stand together through all of these ordeals. I am not an advocate of police brutality anymore than I would advise it's a good idea to interfere with an officer in the middle of doing their duties. I think the bystanders in videos like this have become to accustomed to the PO's standing down and not defending themselves. Then when they do as in this instance, it's caught on video most likely edited to suit their side.
