Several years ago I ran a sales team for a medical device company. I spent quite a bit of time with my rep in NYC visiting hospitals.

What passes for a nurse in NYC is astounding--terrifying, really. I'm sure there are plenty of decent ones, but I met the worst kind of affirmative action diversity hires you can possibly imagine. I wouldn't let them touch me or a member of my family with a 10-foot pole.

Most of these "tenured" nurses had close to zero clinical knowledge, employed shitty infection prevention practices, and had that whole lazy, insolent swagger going on. When we would show up to give the inservice (training) on our equipment, it was clear they couldn't be bothered. Also, the whole story about a nursing shortage is BS. There were always dozens just sitting around texting on their phones or talking shit. They knew they were untouchable, so they just didn't care.

The death toll in NYC is the culmination of years of liberal policies, the perfect storm. Diversity is our weakness.

I'm not surprised a bit.
