Semantic point perhaps - Because many karens are spinsters. So not really matriarchy. Motherhood would seem a prerequisite of such a thing.

We let the karens hector us into giving them the vote 100 years ago. And we are paying for it ever since.

They are never fucking happy. And them we give them more say. And nope. Not happy. When are we just not going to give a shit about them? They are pity, that is their only weapon. They are sad pitiful losers.

Interesting point. I don't think that's a coincidence. Real mothers are concerned with their own children, sometimes overly, sometimes not. Non-mothers and governors pretending that citizens are their children are attempting to infantalize them. Perhaps their motherhood instinct, having no where to go, is sublimated into exaggerated concern for the actions of adults they have no maternal relationship to.
