It was not only taxes, but liberty proper. So commanded by duty were they to explore human nature and understand the tendencies of man that they forsaw all manifestations of tyranny. It was a very specific kind of liberty too, one which brought order to chaos and heartened virtue in the character of men.

That said, if the panoply of those men were to bear witness to their Federal government in our time, then I believe all 145 would be greatly saddened by the corruption of our hearts. We love not liberty, but tyranny. And it is a wicked and unpure form of love that is not true, but a tawdy imitation. Those 145 were great men, sure, but they represented a society of great men; you are right in assuming their rebellion, and, if I'm reading into your statements, a sense of duty which commands one to further perfect the Republic to a greater degree.

If the future requires us to call a council in arms, and a philisophical and temporal war that is surely holy in nature, it will be my honor to fight alongside you for the cause of righteous Lady Liberty.🗽

I used to think there were too many on the wrong side and it would take a massive shift to get them back on track. This recent event has led to one huge disappointment in my countrymen. Furthermore the control exhibited over information and communication makes our very existence here a threat to those in power. Militias will not be able to communicate through any electronic means because of NSA domestic spy programs. That is the real reason the Boog hasn’t kicked off. We have allowed ourselves to be isolated in the electronic footprint.

This is important. And there was a lot of civil disobedience before people started showing up with guns.

Your right. Thomas Gordon and John Trenchard's Cato Letters along with Thomas Paine's Common Sense spring to mind. Those three Pamphliteers, indeed, the whole panoply of Pressmen, would despise the Fake News. The cause of Liberty in the great contest of ideas was fought, in large part, by the Press!

I notice that, unlike in our time, the Press gave history lessons so as to have a reference points to current events in the news. The Press also pushed Hellenic-Roman philosophy and rhetoric along with the religious sermons from the Black Robed Regiment such as Reverend John Wise of Ipswitch and Reverend Thomas Hooker of Massachusetts, er, Connecticut.

I read civil discourses and thoughts from the Churches, the Merchents, English whigs such as Edmund Burke of Dublin, Ireland, what wisdom did Romans such as Marcus Tullius Cicero and Hellenes such as Aristotle of Athens treasure us with? It was a true marketplace of ideas.

I also notice these ideas flowed from a concentrated, true Aristocracy that was promoting these great ideas on liberty, religious morals, the power of the sword and security of the purse, English, Roman and Greek history.

Now, that once brimming market place of ideas has become so dilluted of wisdom that is dangerous to even conduct commerce there. It is downright noxious!

We just have propaganda. Since the News has gone sour during the French revolution, Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union, it seems foolish for us to assume we're immune just as the French jacobins, Nazis or Russian Soviets did.

I believe we must return to the old ways and pick up the traditions of our forefathers, traced back through history are the American colonialists, the Englishmen, the Romans, the Greeks, the non Gentiles.

There was even more loyalist newspapers spewing redcoat propaganda though

Nobody wants to be the next Randy Weaver, watching the FBI shoot your wife, your children, and your dog.

Then having the government spend the next 25 years spreading lies about your family, and using your death as an excuse to disarm millions of Americans.

Too many people believe what the media tells them, despite hundreds of examples of their dishonesty.

You can thank Col. George Mason of Virginia for placing Article V Convention of States into our Constitution. Those words were designed as recourse before the power of the sword, which is to be used only as a last resort after all prior methods have been exhausted.

because war is war and most sane people would like to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

Yup. We all love the idea of the glorious fight for freedom. But no one will like the tearing apart of the nation. Maybe it happens quickly, but these same forefathers had to fight for a decade. Many are willing. But the majority of that many are good people who will wait until it is the best option left and the timing is right.

You echo something I've been feeling for a while. If you asked a conservative and a liberal if they would be willing to kill all their neighbors who don't think like them the conservative is more statistically likely to say no.

This is a fantastic strength. I don't care if someone calls me a "beautiful loser" or w/e, you have to look at the big picture and think about what kind of country you want to create if you do win.

They would have revolted as soon as people started to deviate from the constitution. That’s why giving up rights is a slippery slope and now here we are. I’m convinced that any reopening happening in blue states is only due to our starting to fight back against them.

To be fair, it took decades to get to that point, and they even had soldiers forcibly lodging in people's homes. Once people are hungry enough, or government gets violent enough, it might happen. Even before Corona, we've been getting more people refusing to comply with new gun laws. Remember that veteran who was getting red flagged, and people started showing up in the neighbor as it was ongoing, and the cops backed down?

An actual target would be nice.

Are people less or more civilized now? I used to be sure.
