I was born too late to explore the planet and too early to explore the galaxy. :-( If I were a young man today, I'd almost certainly join the Space Force. It is our future, period. As it is, I'll just be a middle-aged guy sitting here in my Space-X hat and cheering for all the young people who will, hopefully in my lifetime, get to do the things I wanted most to do.
Damn right. They may have the stars, but at least we had the best music. And they may see the moon or the planets, but they'll never get to see Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken, Metallica and Kingdom Come on stage at Monsters of Rock '88!
As a 21 year-old, I wholeheartedly agree here. I even like the hairstyles yal wore back then(mainly the women lol)! It also must've been nice to talk to each other without having to deal with everyone having their head pressed into a smartphone.
Yeah that was better. But you know what you missed that you can be glad you did is SMOKING.
Motherfuckers smoked EVERYWHERE. I mean they smoked on fucking AIRPLANES!! Buses, planes, trains, in cars, at work, in restaurants, it was disgusting. The air in Whatever room you were would turn blue with cigarette smoke, everything smelled of smoke.
It was a goddamn nightmare if you didn't smoke. Lots of great things from the old days... but in this one case life is better now.
I didn't smoke in the 80s, and yeah I feel your pain. But now that I do smoke, I realize I missed one of the greatest fucking times on the planet.
I'm not talking about chain smoking, but having the FREEDOM to sit down anywhere you want and light up with a coffee or beer...or just chatting with a stranger at a bar over a couple of cigarettes...if you've never done it you have no idea what you're missing.
Things have gotten too crazy now where you can't smoke ANYWHERE. There oughta be some smoking bars...and now entire universities have it so you can't smoke anywhere on campus, now that's just crazy.
It gets so miserable going outside to smoke when it's 110 degrees or more. Kill me. That said, when it's winter time and you find a bar with a smoking patio, there's no better thing in the modern day than sitting down with your buddies, lighting up, enjoying a beer, and chatting for a few hours.
It'll be 16 years for me come July. 3 packs a day of Kool Filter Kings. Started in about 7th grade. If I can quit, anyone can. That said, to this day I still get a craving for a cigarettte once in a blue moon - outside in the early morning, after a big meal, etc. My Dad quit smoking around 1980, and even he still gets the occasional craving.
I was an occasional “social smoker” in the 80s and I agree - nothing like sitting in a blues club listening to some cool live music, with a date or some friends, drinking a well made cocktail or whisky, late on a Saturday night, and enjoying a cigarette if you wanted. Nice ashtrays on the tables that were immediately whisked away and replaced, matchbooks for the asking. Nobody giving you dirty looks. Atmosphere. It’s a lost art.
Ironically, I now have the same hair style I sported in 1976. In fact everything is now like when I was 16: long hair, low gas prices, and I'm grounded.
I watched those too. Saw Depeche Mode at Madison Square Garden, I think it was 90'. They were great live. Most bands were. This is back when playing and writing music was an actual requirement of course, and no one played or wrote the songs for you.
Yeah, I'm into classic rock as well, 80s new wave is probably my favorite genre though. Never got to see any old bands live as I was born at the end of the 80s and didnt start getting into the classics until my 20s.
It really does seem like good music went underground in the 90s, and we got a couple of decades of bland washed out rock that all sounded the same.
But on the bright side, I think we're going through another golden age right now. Modern pop music is the best it's been since the 80s and there's a huge explosion in great EDM, electro-pop, and synthwave artists bringing back 80s vibes and taking it to new places.
The eighties were the eightiest time to be alive. Like, y'know, beyond awesome and stuff.
Also, why risk the youth on space exploration? Send the Gen-Xers. We're still relatively fit and have a lot of experience to help us survive against the alien hordes.
As a young person, one of my greatest dispointments is that I wasn't able to go to AirForce Academy and eventually serve in uniform in USAF.
Know that not all millenials/Zs suck.
Hopefully if the Space Force will take off, and be able to have a good, strong and robust program.
Don't sell yourself short, I had a few dudes in their late 30s early 40s when I went through boot camp, also had a LT when I was in reserves that was 70 and joined up cause she was bored. I know I'd re-up in a heartbeat to explore the stars.
A muzzleloader is any firearm into which the projectile and usually the propellant charge is loaded from the muzzle of the gun (i.e., from the forward, open end of the gun's barrel).
I was 5 years old when the men landed on the moon. I remember sitting crosslegged on the floor in front of the TV watching as Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon.
I got goosebumps. It is still, to this day, one of the highlights of my life. Even at 5, I understood the magnitude of what I was watching.
I firmly believe that putting a man on the moon is, still, man's biggest accomplishment.
Lift up the dumb, and hold back our kids - and race to the bottom until everyone’s on an equal education level. Now, most other countries kids are smarter than ours by leaps and bounds.
How crazy would it be if they set up all the personnel and infrastructure and then when it's all up and running they unveil the alien-based hyperdrive.
If I was an American and they would take me, I'd join in a heart beat. I'm likely too old anyway but I am so happy America is taking this very seriously. Defending the kill chain for these fancy new weapons is critical and one of the first things China will attack is US satellites.
That's what I love about our great president! While the dems are pushing gender pronouns and tranny bathrooms, Trump is busy pushing America to conquer space! Trump thinks and acts yuuuuugely! The left is stuck in woke leftist groupthink.
Ill join space force if i could be a janitor. Get to see everything and the in and outs and hear all types of coverstaions. And then just be responible for shit. Easy.
Obama Directs NASA to Reach Out to Muslim Nations ...
https://www.newsmax.com/FrankGaffney/Gaffney-NASA-space-China/2010/07/06/id/363898/Just when you thought Barack Obama's toadying to Islam could not get any worse, now comes this: The president directed the new administrator of NASA, retired Marine Major Gen. Charles Bolden, as "perhaps [his] foremost" charge to "find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage more dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science . . . and ...
That is awesome. I feel like Florida during that time, doing what he did, must have been amazing. Not sure why, but I've always wished I could have lived in Florida back then.
ha! as if the elite chumps would allow us to settle on a new world free of their control and influence with no divisive tactics to slow down progress. if only.

I'm right with ya, brother. Hey, at least we had the 80's. :)

Arizona resident who's yet to kick the habit.

Tobacco is a fucking terrible. Do a drug that is actually worth it. Slow suicide.
I can say this too...ive been addicted to tobacco.

It was even worse in the Fifties. You couildn't go anywhere without coming home stinking of stale smoke.
Oh agree for sure!
I actually smoked back then and even I couldn't stand all the cigarette smoke. Never sat in a smoking section of a restaurant because yuck.
Ironically, I now have the same hair style I sported in 1976. In fact everything is now like when I was 16: long hair, low gas prices, and I'm grounded.
Def Leppard. Hysteria tour. Holy fuck.
lol
Why downvote me man. I am a product of the 80's. Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden. I had the posters and black light.
New Wave fans would like to speak with you.
I watched those too. Saw Depeche Mode at Madison Square Garden, I think it was 90'. They were great live. Most bands were. This is back when playing and writing music was an actual requirement of course, and no one played or wrote the songs for you.

I saw it in Pittsburgh, Three Rivers Stadium on June 15. I still have a t-shirt packed away somewhere here in the archives...
The eighties were the eightiest time to be alive. Like, y'know, beyond awesome and stuff.
Also, why risk the youth on space exploration? Send the Gen-Xers. We're still relatively fit and have a lot of experience to help us survive against the alien hordes.
I had teenage fantasies about Maggie from The Last Starfighter. And I once played Asteroids for more hours straight than I care to admit as an adult.
Maggie was crushable. I was definitely jealous of Alex, when she wanted to take him down by the lake.
Death Blossom
loved that movie
youngest Gen-Xers are 41 or will be very soon. Time is running out.
Hell Yes we had the 80's!!! Wouldn't trade them for Space... 🤘🤪👍
Same here, dude! We had a blast back then.
Damn. To be young agian.
As a young person, one of my greatest dispointments is that I wasn't able to go to AirForce Academy and eventually serve in uniform in USAF.
Know that not all millenials/Zs suck.
Hopefully if the Space Force will take off, and be able to have a good, strong and robust program.
As a young person, my greatest disappointment was getting to the Air Force Academy and learning that I am absolutely atrocious at math.
Don't sell yourself short, I had a few dudes in their late 30s early 40s when I went through boot camp, also had a LT when I was in reserves that was 70 and joined up cause she was bored. I know I'd re-up in a heartbeat to explore the stars.
I will be sending you all a postcard from Mars then my dudes. Also I bet you could get a waiver for that, but waivers are usually case by case basis.
I got rejected when I was 34- it would have been my first enlistment. And I was two months away, so somehow I was still too old (Army limit is 35).
It's not too late to die on Mars, spending the last of your years building a foundation. As those on the Mayflower built for us.
Well, I hope my purpose isn't to be alien food! Tell us more, Space Force!
I just jettisoned milk out my airlock!
Lefties
also lefties
They can stay behind.
I dunno about them being Musketeers anymore...
Maybe we'll load our laser guns from the front :p
That's it boys, time to move to another planet!
Why should we move? The left are the ones that hate it here so much. Let’s find them a new home! ;)
Just give them full command of their own spaceship. Every single system from life support to navigation. The situation will take care of itself.
No. Move liberals off this planet. We can all stay here.
I was 5 years old when the men landed on the moon. I remember sitting crosslegged on the floor in front of the TV watching as Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon.

to bad we gave up all that could have achieved for a chance to lift up our fellow man and go for "Civil Rights"
Lift up the dumb, and hold back our kids - and race to the bottom until everyone’s on an equal education level. Now, most other countries kids are smarter than ours by leaps and bounds.
leaps and bounds. . . . . . . . sigh
My proudest moment to date is meeting Buzz Aldrin!
Brought to you by white men.
Sorry, not sorry.
#MOARBOOSTERS!
KSP KSP
KSP has prepared me for the Space Force!
We’re going to make Mars great again, folks. Believe me.
Do you want the Expanse? Cause that's how you get the Expanse.
All the libs become the belters.
Yikes the comments
“WHY ARE YOU WEARING CAMO?”
Because they’re not in space yet, dumbass
When can I enlist?! I wanna sign up now!
Check the air Force website
Hell yes brother
So do I. I keep seeing tiny hints here and there, suggesting that something major is about to be revealed, but I don't know what.
How crazy would it be if they set up all the personnel and infrastructure and then when it's all up and running they unveil the alien-based hyperdrive.
I don't know if you're kidding or not, but that is certainly a real possibility.
MAKE MOON LANDINGS GREAT AGAIN
Manifest Destiny 2, it's on boys!
How long before we can launch the B Ark and fill it with leftists?
Fuck that. You want them colonizing other planets? Quarantine their asses here.
The B Ark gets put on an orbit that intersects with Sol (the Sun). Sure, it's not easy to lose all that delta-V, but it's worth it in the end.
https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2018/its-surprisingly-hard-to-go-to-the-sun
Such a great video. Has the feeling of Apollo, but bigger
Damnit, im too old to sign up.. But this is my dream.. I hope people today still hold similar dreams sign up.
Metoo lol
Why did this give me the same vibes as watching the Halo 3 trailer for the first time?? Fantastic.
Wish i was younger and could participate in this, but i imagine in my life time there will be commercial flights to space so i'll wait it out.
Yeah, #metoo fam. I thought when i was a kid that we'd be like the jetsons by now.
If I was an American and they would take me, I'd join in a heart beat. I'm likely too old anyway but I am so happy America is taking this very seriously. Defending the kill chain for these fancy new weapons is critical and one of the first things China will attack is US satellites.
Service guarantees citizenship. Welcome to the mobile infantry pede
You couldn't be a pilot of course but there are plenty of other jobs they would allow you to do.
Space Force must not be Q fans: https://i.imgur.com/nu1MSU1.png
I heard FB just deleted all Qanon pages a few days ago.. wouldnt be surprised if Twitter hid that by default.
A lot of people claim they're flying now.
That's what I love about our great president! While the dems are pushing gender pronouns and tranny bathrooms, Trump is busy pushing America to conquer space! Trump thinks and acts yuuuuugely! The left is stuck in woke leftist groupthink.
America Fuck Yeah!!!
Does anyone know the medical criteria for the space force? I have diabetes. Always wanted to join military but couldn’t.
try their careers page: https://www.airforce.com/careers/browse-careers/space
Can't do it with diabetes, sorry mate. My brother has type 1 and the fact that he's the only one of my family to not serve makes him very sad.
MGZA!!!!!!!!!!!
And suddenly the left hates science
This makes Dead Orbit the supreme faction in Destiny. 🌌
Ill join space force if i could be a janitor. Get to see everything and the in and outs and hear all types of coverstaions. And then just be responible for shit. Easy.
low energy!
I was born too early.
Yes!!!
🚀🚀🚀 Like Cottonelle flying around Uranus looking for Klingons?
sign me up
There's a lot of space-commies out there need killing.
Anyone know what font they used at the end for "UNITED STATES" and "SPACE FORCE"? I like it.
I love it!
I approve this message.
Beautiful... Just imagine.
Ok we are living in a science fiction novel, but at least it's a good one.

This is awesome. Proud of Trump. He’s done so much in 3 years. My gawd!!!!!
This kicks so much ass.
Pretty badass.
The Space force should have been implemented 10+ years ago.
That is awesome. I feel like Florida during that time, doing what he did, must have been amazing. Not sure why, but I've always wished I could have lived in Florida back then.
ha! as if the elite chumps would allow us to settle on a new world free of their control and influence with no divisive tactics to slow down progress. if only.
