At least in Massachusetts absolutely no one follows this. People also go through the caution tape at Walmart. After one of the troglodytes who works there yelled at me for not standing 25 feet away from the person behind me in line I told her this was all stupid. Said asshole doubled down so I left the cart right in the way and stormed out.
