Uh....we've been over this one, that's provably false. Only way red states are taking more money is when you account for money going into military institutions, which isn't a handout but paying for a service.

Shouldn't Cenk be getting fucked by a horse somewhere instead of spewing off on Twitter?

Hey.

Mules are very useful animals.

Unlike Cenk.

Military, Medicare, and also food stamps. Red states have more retirees and military bases. Cenk is an idiot who doesn't understand how many works, but then again I have yet to meet a leftist that gets even basic economics.

Military and interstates. You know, the interstates that allow food and goods to get to blue coastlines.

Doesn't really line up with the fact that CA, IL and NY - the three bluest states in the country - are broke AF right now and are asking for trillions in government bailouts.

That is “Kurt SCHLICHTER”-level SAVAGE

Is this true what Cenk has written? My Lib brother says the same thing. I am looking for a good source to refute it.

Here's an article to get you started. https://bongino.com/liberals-resurrect-myth-that-blue-states-subsidize-red-states

Couple big take-away's from that article.

A) Against a national average of $1,935 in intergovernmental spending per American, red states receive just $1,879. Blue states get considerably more, at $2,124 per resident.

B) When you look at who gets Fed money, D's vs. R's, you see that the vast majority of people on welfare, food stamps, unemployment, etc. are D's.

Public Housing - 81% are democrats

Food Stamps - 67% are democrats

Another thing to point out is to be very careful anytime someone says 'red states suck all the money from blue states' and then put some graphic on the screen that says NY pays X amount and only gets Y back compared to some red state. Without going into all the details. Are they counting Federal revenue other than personal or business taxes? Because that would severely warp the numbers. Are they counting revenue from things like oil field leases? Tariffs on goods shipped in/out of the country? FCC radio bandwidth leases? etc, etc.

Long story short, blue states like NY (which I currently live in and hope to leave soon) severely fuck up their state budgets with countless gibmedat programs, sanctuary cities, bloated state worker pension and retirement benefits, etc, etc. and then plead poverty and point the finger at red states that at least try to be more fiscally responsible.

Personally, I think this whole vicious circle of paying Federal taxes just to have it doled out to the states for various programs, etc. is ridiculous. The only things Federal taxes should pay for are the courts, military, etc.

It also never takes into account SALT tax deductions. That is 100% federal money that goes to the states indirectly.

If you owe $20k to the feds and $10k to the state, you get to deduct that $10k directly from your federal tax so the state gets $10k and the Feds get $10k.

Essentially, you're paying the state nothing and they are taking $10k from what you paid to the feds. That is where the vast majority of federal-to-state transfer takes place and is why the left lost their fucking minds over removal of SALT deductions in the tax cut bill.

4
LoveMAGAHats 4 points ago +4 / -0

Please try to be more accurate , the bill didn't remove salt deductions it just put a cap on them.

The total removal of salt deductions hurting the middle class is a dishonest Democrat talking point.

3
HuggableBear 3 points ago +3 / -0

The initial bill removed them completely, thank you very much. It was adjusted after the uproar to be a cap instead.

2
LoveMAGAHats 2 points ago +2 / -0

Perhaps that's true but you always shoot past the mark you want at first during negotiating so it makes sense to me that complete removal was not the intent of that portion of the bill. Also it was Republicans majority house Senate and Trump admin if I remember correctly so I beleive the uproar was echoed by many Republican constituents as well. I know personaly I don't think SALT deductions should be completely removed from fed income tax.

what's your view on it?

1
HuggableBear 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't understand why the feds would ever subsidize state income taxes in the first place. There should be no SALT deduction at all, it just gives states license to raise their taxes until they reach federal levels, at which point the federal rates are raised to compensate, but when the feds are losing fuck loads of money to NY and CA, they can't just raise their rates, they have to raise everyone's.

It's never been anything other than a way for the states to shift the perception of their tax burden onto the feds.

"provide for the general welfare" is the worst sentence in the constitution. Then again our founding fathers were religious men and probably pretty gracious.

2
astro_eng 2 points ago +2 / -0

Its so congress can control the populace. The Constitution was ripped up over a century ago.

This is excellent. Thank you very much for taking the time to write it out and provide a link.

Don’t have a source handy right now but as I know it, GENERALLY, red states do have smaller budgets but they are also generally more financially responsible so their budgets are better balanced and they aren’t hemorrhaging money like blue states do. The feds do give them bigger subsidies than blue states, generally. But I see that as okay because they’re more responsible with money. Blue states (like my Illinois for instance) can’t control their money, haven’t had a balanced budget for years, and want to tax the bejesus out of their citizens.

4
LoveMAGAHats 4 points ago +4 / -0

"The feds do give them bigger subsidies than blue states, generally."

I beleive they do Not give red States more in raw dollars. Only more as a percentage of the total state budget. But red States have smaller budgets overall and per capita so the totals dollars are smaller as well as per capita

So Cnek realizes that red states's largest cities typically are leftist and have inner-cities where lots of Democrats live?

3
Ekgamut 3 points ago +3 / -0

Lol, these retards really don’t know anything, don’t they? Most welfare queens live in Southeastern states are black people. Few white people are on welfare outside the meth-ridden areas.

3
stratocaster_patriot 3 points ago +3 / -0

What you will see from people who report on these things is the fact that more white people are welfare than anyone else. Sure but there are also more of us. Blacks are about 12% of the population but make up almost 20% of recipients. Whites make up 73% of the population and account for 42% of recipients. Latinos are 17% and account for 30% so these oh so hard working people that we could never survive without are by far the worst. Not only that but the fastest growing population.

A based this partly on the data from this site which is clearly looking at this data and dishonestly saying that most welfare recipients are white Again, OK, but misleading and not a useful statistic.

Blue states are in massive debt that they will never pay off.

If we ever had a civil war and broke away from the U.S., we'd have a much better financial position than the blue states that were left behind.

1
stratocaster_patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's true and once we took over their industries it would be light out for them.

At one point in the last 5 years, Indiana had a 2 billion dollar surplus. And in the past, we've even given money to Hoosiers cause we've had a surplus. It's more of a state tax refund, but still.

We don't bring in a lot of money, but we don't spend out the wahzoo like blue states do.
