Yep Lincoln shut down papers, arrested journalists, bribed congressmen with jobs for their kids, and started a war. All because a good part of population felt like they were facing a tyrannical government.
What was Lincoln's response? Basically, "Oh, I'll show you Southern hillbillies what a tyrannical government looks like bitches!"
Not to mention that his highest priority which was to preserve the Union has no Constitutional Basis and silence on such questions is reserved to the states or to the People by the Tenth Amendment.
It actually violates the Spirit of the Declaration of Independence which requires the consent of the governed in order to be legitimate.
“If I could save the Union without freeing any slaves,” he wrote, “I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves, I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone, I would also do that.”

In reality, he could not save the Union except by WAR and ignoring the Constitution. And he did it.
