Who at the FBI was driving this?

Well, this particular episode, it looks like the impetus came from the seventh floor.

The seventh floor is Director Comey.

I believe it's Director Comey and the deputy's office.

He called out Comey by name.

Wray is probably a snake but who knows... Now one thing I’m sure of is they have Wray on such a tight leash, Barron takes him for a daily walk.

24
rooftoptendie 24 points ago +25 / -1

Every day Barron takes little Wray Doge out on the lawn for his daily BM... and he just strains and strains but nothing comes out. Someday he will finally shit that brick.

Why the hell did Trump hire Wray? Doesn't he do background checks on these people?

9
Factsherrt 9 points ago +10 / -1

Only positive reasoning I can have with having deepstate people like fauci; brix; Wray etc. around him is trump rolling with the concept keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.

Word was awhile back trump was thinking of canning Barr for Giuliani come fall prior to corona stuff

1
AlohaSnackbar 1 point ago +2 / -1

Look at the tiny group of people in his orbit who's only goal is to help Trump. There aren't THAT many, and of those few have any experience in politics or high level law enforcement.

So, then we branch out to "loyal to Trump, but have their own interests" . These are where a lot of the questionable hires come from. They give advice to Trump to hire people who've been around for a bit, and would like to be around longer. This creates a little loyalty to the adviser that will outlast the President's term.

The fact that Trump and his followers (GO US!) are in a war against an implacable enemy, and thus needs truly kick-ass people doesn't enter the thought process.

Agreed. Wray clearly knew and didn't want to bring it forward sooner, but if he's not fully in bed with the cabal, maybe they're trying to see if he can flipped over in the mean time before taking any drastic decisions.

If all these stories prove anything, it's that the great game is a lot more complicated than it appears on the surface.

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that Barr has a better understanding of the ridiculous department back and forth that leads to document releases. For example, Barr isn't the one who signed the withdrawal of Flynn's case even though he's getting credit for it.

But these clowns are YEARS late on arrests. We need justice and I'm pissed it's taking this long.

This is just more proof that THEY have known all of this all along.

VoltronGreen1981 16 points ago +17 / -1

Unfortunately doing it "by the books" is probably extremely convoluted thanks to how fucked up the system is.

12
HeyZeusChristo54 12 points ago +12 / -0

I'm convinced that we won't see arrests until Trump secures a second term when he can go super saiyan president. The whole might of the political establishment is throwing everything they got and is praying to Moloch with blood sacrifices hoping that Trump loses in November.

3
usuck911 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm afraid Trump won't secure a second term, they will go bold with election fraud in broad day light like they did in 2018 mid term election to steal the house and dare patriots to intervene with civil war.

especially if Hilary is nominated as VP. Hilary won't have a go at 3rd attempt unless she is certain voter fraud will get her victory

7

Trying to retain people in a corrupt organization is pointless. The cancer will grow back. You have to fire everyone that remembers how "good" it used to be when you could accept bribe money and railroad innocent men, or the junior leadership will just repeat the lessons they were taught.

He was saying to the Russians, you know, “Don’t escalate.” And they asked him if he remembered saying that, and he said he didn’t remember that.

That was the "lie" he is guilty of.

What a sad time for America. That kind of shit should be illegal.

23
lanre 23 points ago +23 / -0

Wait wait wait.... So every swamp creature in the world can repeat "I do not recall" all day long in court on huge issues that concern them directly, and get off Scott free. But one innocent man says he doesn't remember during interrogation and the FBI reads his mind, discovers he DOES remember, and ruins his life? I'm glad we're living in the land of freedom and justice for all. For a second I was worried we had rights or something.

2
ADAM_SCHITT 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not only that, but Flynn wasn't under oath and it wasn't an official interview. Two FBI guys just went over to the White House to go talk to him.

Billy Barr drops charges on an innocent man one year after gaining access to the evidence of his innocence. And Barr only dropped the charges because the evidence of Flynn's innocence was made public by work of Flynn's attorney .. forcing Barr to finally do the right thing.

And you want to call that a habbening? You want to praise the FBI's hero defense attorney of Ruby Ridge for this one year delay of true justice for an innocent man?

-1
catsfive -1 points ago +2 / -3

Bill Barr dropped it based on evidence that he first funnelled through the special counsel. The evidence that clears Flynn? It all has special counsel markings on it. It wasn't just about clearing Flynn. It was about giving the traitors enough rope to hang themselves. What's taking so long? That's why.

So Barr set an innocent man free, a year after he took office with full access to the evidence that the man was innocent.

And you want to pat Barr on the back for that?

Q: Was it an easy decision?

BARR: It was an easy decision, yes. I think easy because once I saw all the facts and some of the tactics used by the FBI in this instance and also the legal problems with the case, it was an easy decision. You know, one thing people will see when they look at the documents is how Director Comey purposely went around the Justice Department and ignored Deputy Attorney General Yates.

Deputy Attorney General Yates, I’ve disagreed with her about a couple of things, but, you know, here she upheld the fine tradition of the Department of Justice. She said that the new administration has to be treated just like the Obama administration, and they should go and tell the White House about their findings. They and, you know, Director Comey ran around that.

Either Yates was really duped or Barr really wants her to look like a sympathetic figure.

♦ Q: Uh-huh.

BARR: I mean, it’s not gonna be the end of it.

♦ Q: What do you mean, it’s not the end of it?

BARR: Well, I said we’re gonna get to the bottom of what happened.

♦ Q: And later this year, do you expect a report from U.S. Attorney John Durham? Or do you expect indictments?

BARR: Well, as you know, I’m not gonna predict the outcome. But I said that we’re certainly — there probably will be a report as a byproduct of his work. But we also are seeing if there are people who violated the law and should be brought to justice. And that’s what we have our eye on.

♦ Q: And that would include individuals involved in the Flynn case?

BARR: I don’t wanna get into particular individuals.

♦ Q: Attorney General William Barr, thank you very much for joining us here at CBS News.

Barr: Thank you.

Barr keeps the enemy on his toes. I trust the guy but he's not frothing at the mouth like we are. But he doesn't seem to have any misconception that Comey is behind a lot of this.

5
I_Love_45-70_Gov 5 points ago +5 / -0

I like how he doesn't get worked up and that he makes no assumptions or grandstands. This way the propaganda puppets in the media can't make the "partisan hack" label stick once the shit really hits the fan.

Of course, the propaganda asshats will make every attempt to slur his name, but Barr's consistancy tends to help garner public support rather than hurt it.

1
RocketSurgeon22 1 point ago +1 / -0

He hesitated though. He has been partial to Big Gov. I hope Durham brings so much undeniable evidence that convictions are not even questioned.

7
Debutante 7 points ago +7 / -0

I have to believe they are not stupid. I am sure Trump will win in 2020 -- but there's always a chance that without voter ID the Dems could cheat.

So they have to know the plotters have to be indicted before then (and thus rendered ineligible to run, assist in conniving, or spreading their usual falsehoods via a corrupt media, pulling false flags to sway public opinion, and whatever else lies in their bag of tricks). Hopefully, because they'd be behind bars.

Presumably -- this will come to a head before the 2020 election cycle comes to an end or it will become a completely dead issue if 2020 is lost to the Democrats. They should dump all the garbage they have on these people in time to wreck any credibility their party has for 2020.

That's a good strategic move and probably why the wheels have been turning so slow. They may have been timing this to hit now and continuing until November 2020.

Now if that's the case, it's going to be very chaotic with campaigns and trials going on at the same time. Though considering almost nobody in the Democratic party isn't going to be implicated somewhere in this massive scheme -- I wonder if they will have anybody left to run as a Democrat in 2020.

3
desync_ 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree, but I'm not sure it's a good strategic move. It would be in any other situation, given that it would be the most democratic way to secure the election, but the Democrats have absolutely 0 intention of being democratic about the election.

5
flipping_some_tables 5 points ago +5 / -0

I hope that it sends the message that there is one standard of justice in this country.

Dropping charges on the good guys is simple, hanging traitors is about the only thing that'd restore any confidence in justice.

BARR: Well, you know, people sometimes plead to things that turn out not to be crimes. And as I said, the question of lying, you know, it’s something he would know about. On its face, as Director Comey said, it’s not so clear. But the question of materiality is not something he would know about. That’s something that the government knows about. And we have now gotten into it, drilled down, obtained new information. And the Department of Justice is not persuaded that this was material to any legitimate counterintelligence investigation. So it was not a crime.

It seems to me like this would have been a perfect opportunity to mention that Flynn's family was being threatened as a chip to blackmail him to get this plea. It would have been great to see that. However, he says this, prior

♦ Q: You know more about the investigation since Horowitz, since December. Do you see more evidence of personal or political bias today?

BARR: You know, I’m not gonna, again, get into reaching a conclusion at this point till I see everything. There’s certainly more information that has come out that, you know, points in that direction. But I haven’t reached a final conclusion.

At the end they had this exchange that I find hopeful

♦ Q: In closing, this was a big decision in the Flynn case, to– to say the least. When history looks back on this decision, how do you think it will be written? What will it say about your decision making?

BARR: Well, history is written by the winner. So it largely depends on who’s writing the history. But I think a fair history would say that it was a good decision because it upheld the rule of law. It helped, it upheld the standards of the Department of Justice, and it undid what was an injustice.

As badly as the press maligns Barr and accuses him of being some kind of Hammer of Trump, which we actually wish he was, he seems to be stepping very lightly, threading the needle very carefully and cutting very surgically, doing the least damage possible.

He was concerned that the law was being used unjustly, he is aware that the public has lost confidence and is incensed with the injustice. He doesn't seem to be as concerned with that as I wish he would be though.

I just hope that when the time is come and he can completely justify it, via the law, that he will act decisively with that scalpel and totally excise the cancer that the last administration infected us with.
