I suspect this may have been intended to take out Trump’s base, especially since it would be consistent with the Deep State’s outdated thinking from the 1990s, when old people did vote Republican. But that was 30 years ago and a lot of these old people were actually the ones most jacked into the corporate media and TV news. Even Boomers I think are almost more likely to be NeverTrumpers or reluctant Democrats at this point. The whole Democrats = young and Republicans = old is just stale thinking.
