I agree, but what else could he do? He tried to put the best spin on it that he could. The dems whipped up the panic with the media. Even rational people bought into it. They would have blamed 2 million deaths on him if he fought it. And we would have ended up with mayor pete in 2020.

The 2M model is utter bullshit.

The number we have today is probably 2x inflated since the Cares Act made incentives to code ANY case as Covid after mandating hospitals not take elective procedures.

Ok, people who i thought were rational before this. This has changed how i feel about quite a few people, that i can tell you. Not just the people who bought into the hysteria, but the people who are milking it out, and who think never going back to work would be a good idea. And the people and companies who were trying to find a way to capitalize on it, and use it as a marketing tool. And the fucking karens,

Theres a cottage company i support that makes backpacking gear. It went from the owner being a good guy for staying open to keep his workers employed, to him being eviscerated on social media for putting his employees in danger. All because of karens. Fuck karens.

How many Karens are in charge of spending money on backpacking gear? Some mothers of boy scouts and that’s it?

No man, there are millions of grown ass adults like me who backpack any chance we get. I prefer getting 20 miles out where there is no cel, no light or noise pollution, and no other humans, just wandering around alone and making camp wherever i want.

Its magical. Especially late at night in a storm under my tarp, all snug and warm in my hammock. The hardest part is getting up in the morning. I usually have my coffee and oats before i even get out of the hammy.

Lots of karens in the backpacking community. Mostly not attractive, pudgy, short hair. But there are some cute ones every so often, and some really cool ones. But they tend to be progressive types for the most part. Thats why i stay off popular trails, too many hard core granola munchers.

I was someone who originally thought the virus was bad, before realizing what was really going on. Here's my take on it.

I followed the situation based on "leaks" from china, all the way in early/mid December. At that point the media was aggressively downplaying it, and thinking it was nothing to worry about. That is what made me worry, stock up on supplies, etc. At that time I DID think this was going to be huge. Once things started progressing, and the media started really blowing this out of proportion, while I could see the real data wasn't backing up the claims, that's when I started realizing that this situation was actually backwards, and the virus wasn't actually that bad at all. Especially once reports started coming out about Hydroxychloroquine, and how effective it can be. How can it really be so bad, if we call could easily be healed?

I'd consider myself a rational person, and I try and always verify everything I hear, especially if it comes from the media. Now the people that are STILL acting all crazy over this (my friends, family, and almost everyone else I know) they're the ones being irrational. I really wish I could convince them. But hey, I think things are going to be happening pretty soon, and they'll figure it out sooner or later.
