Regardless of that they delayed the spread by weeks, yielding more time for more information to come in. As of today it long turned ideological and political, so the virus is no longer about merely doing the right thing in a pragmatic way, but about political back and forth. We are on the correct side, leftists, as always, toy with their fantasy, fearmongering and attempts to destroy the economy to make political advancements.
It's sad however to see to what degree our governments world-wide can turn authoritarian on a whim. If anything, the virus was very revealing in that regard. Also remember that the US is very decentralized, so a lot of decision making was not up to Trump in the first place.
