I died in 2000 and 2012 when Al Gore said the Polar ice caps would melt and the state of Florida would be underwater.

overpopulation wiped my entire family out, which was good because it saved us from being taken in and drowned by the rising oceans, and thusly we didn't have to deal with all the plastic straws in the water which would have gone up our noses. The good thing about dying from overpopulation is that when the starving polar bears left the ice looking for food, there were so many people that we could push our neighbors in front of the bears to distract as we slowly tried to run away. Though honestly if it weren't for planned parenthood and their life saving womens healthcare, there would have been even more people and we would have starved to death sooner. Luckily I barely got minor burns when my cobol laptop exploded during Y2k, it was nothing a little aloe and essential oils couldn't handle. Have to be grateful for the little things

As a kid in the 80s I remember this being a blitzkreig by the media. Everyone was even terrified to spray an aerosol can for fear of causing the end of the world

So tell me. People banned the thing they said was causing damage... and the damage reverted?

Seems to me like cause and effect. Not everything is a conspiracy theory.

They outlawed putting plaster in bread for a reason too.

On the plus side, we did find alternative propellants To CFCs which are not only toxic to the planet, but also carcinogenic.

NASA is still monitoring it.

It is slowly repairing itself, but it hasn't gone back to pre-1980s levels. Why? There's still one country that is using CFCs.

Guess which one.

They are a little worse actually. From my experience they have the same god complex many doctors have. The difference being that their entire livelihoods are built around disproving each other. They are a bunch of narcissistic book smart people with an agenda most times.

It's why you can find an expert with almost any opinion you want.

And yet the polar bear population is the highest it's ever been.

Warskullx 6 points ago +6 / -0

The arctic hole, which was natural, corrected itself.

The antarctic hole which was created by CFCs is still big and still there. It was improving, but then it stopped. In fact it might by growing a little now. Why? China doesn't give a fuck and is spewing CFCs.

One more reason to divest from China. We should treat China like Cuba, partner with India on manufacturing, and move critical manufacturing back home.

I do recall being warned about an ozone layer hole and how it was because of hairspray, but I just don't remember much since I died in the 2012 apocalypse, or that time I died from Global Warming, oh there was also the Net Neutrality repeal where I also died.

I almost forgot about that time we all died because Trump got elected, good times.Y'all remember those apocalypses? I'd like to do that last one again, who's with me?

Yes we were all going to get skin cancer and freeze to death. Now the recovered ozone layer is a "bad" thing. Can't make up their minds.

"Meanwhile, some scientists say the environmental triumph of a recovering ozone layer could have a troubling side effect: boosting global warming, at least in the Antarctic region."

Yep, I was running around saying “ the hole in the ozone layer” as a teenager. Now I’m completely jaded and don’t believe the hype.

Im Aussie, I can 100% confirm this is a real thing. Check out our UV index. This is not a conspiracy theory. Come for a holiday and spend 15 minutes in the sun on a nice hot Perth arvo. You'll get fucking roasted mate. Haha
