Well, it depens on the situation and the person. If I had American Citizenship I woldnt gone to war against Norway, but other than that my loyaltiea would be to the American people and making the country great

I wish more people on our side would see it this way. It's like "I get it he's short and Jewish and you disagree with him on foreign policy, can we move on already?" The guy is basically harmless.
I always get a big chuckle when this comes up in political conversations or our relationship with Saudi Arabia. Not a difficult decision especially when you know anything about geopolitics, the middle east and any of the other potential allies we could chose instead.
We really fucked up in Iraq, Egypt and by extension Syria. Those weren't great cards but at least we had a semblance of an alliance. The haters exact like Swiss neutrality is the option too that we are all just overlooking and then they scream "neocon" or whatever.
The Liberty was attacked in 1967. One of my Crypto Instructors at Corry Station was on board when it happened. He tells a very very very different story than what the Israelis do as to what happened. They even showed us the pictures taken while the attack was going on and in it's aftermath. They knew what they were doing the entire time. Lucky for us the ships design was like trying to sink a styrofoam cup or else any old BS story could have been made up.
It was in the 80's and he STILL wasn't allowed to tell us what they intercepted that day or who they intercepted it from. All he intuited was that he was informed that "This never gets out".

If you read all the information surrounding it instead of the reports it makes some unfortunate sense. It appears they knew, they warned us, and since we didn't listen, some showed up (on their own or other) to see it for themselves.
