Central Pennsylvania resident here. If there's any push back it needs to be done at the local level. Our governor (Wolf) decided to extend the "stay at home" orders arbitrarily for another month until June (conveniently after the primaries.) And from what inside sources told me, after that month was over he was planning on extending it until July. And then August, September, etc. Pure evil. I messaged a local congressman on Facebook Friday morning and told him I have friends who are experiencing hardship. Last night a number of counties (York, Dauphin, Cumberland, etc.) had their sheriffs and district attorney say they won't enforce the governor's orders.
This yellow/red/green zone nonsense the governor concocted is asinine. Counties in Northwest part of the state are now in yellow zone, which is basically lock down without the house arrest. My mom is from Kane and I know a number of the towns and communities up north. The area is depressed, and actions from Washington over last 20 years only made their matter worse. The fact a county such as McKean County, which has one (!) covid case is in yellow zone breaks my heart. It was good to see these local sheriffs come together last night and stand for the constitution. I agree with Trump and the Supreme Court that each state should be free to deal with the virus in the way they feel best. However there is a thin line between federalism and policies that are directly harmful to their constituents.
Hopefully our counties can go through this "yellow phase" stuff for a few weeks or so, and then transition to "green phase" and put this nightmare behind us by Memorial Day, and we can live on our lives this summer. Parts of the country are directly impacted by this virus, and it makes sense to use more harsh stay at home orders in these areas. However "one size fits all" policies are insane. How cases are handled in Philadelphia County are much different than how they are handled in Elk County.
Wolf wanted these Central PA counties to remain in "red zone" until after the primaries. All counties have been following the guidance from the CDC. Wolf arbitrarily stated a 50 case per 10,000 resident requirement before transitioning from red to yellow. If you are to remove the nursing home and intensive care data, controlled areas which consist of 70% of all covid cases (!) in the state and are somehow lumped in with general population data, many of the southern counties are in better shape than we are led to believe. Even with this data, York had 42 per 10,000 cases. This meets Wolf's requirements, however he kept them red zone. The Darth Vader quote "I have altered the deal pray I don't alter it further" comes to mind.
Long story short, writing to your local representative works. Pennsylvania is leading the charge, hopefully other states will follow our lead. We have three months worth of data on the virus and we really should be making decisions off of this and not off of fear and emotion.

Central Pennsylvania resident here. If there's any push back it needs to be done at the local level. Our governor (Wolf) decided to extend the "stay at home" orders arbitrarily for another month until June (conveniently after the primaries.) And from what inside sources told me, after that month was over he was planning on extending it until July. And then August, September, etc. Pure evil. I messaged a local congressman on Facebook Friday morning and told him I have friends who are experiencing hardship. Last night a number of counties (York, Dauphin, Cumberland, etc.) had their sheriffs and district attorney say they won't enforce the governor's orders.
This yellow/red/green zone nonsense the governor concocted is asinine. Counties in Northwest part of the state are now in yellow zone, which is basically lock down without the house arrest. My mom is from Kane and I know a number of the towns and communities up north. The area is depressed, and actions from Washington over last 20 years only made their matter worse. The fact a county such as McKean County, which has one (!) covid case is in yellow zone breaks my heart. It was good to see these local sheriffs come together last night and stand for the constitution. I agree with Trump and the Supreme Court that each state should be free to deal with the virus in the way they feel best. However there is a thin line between federalism and policies that are directly harmful to their constituents.
Hopefully our counties can go through this "yellow phase" stuff for a few weeks or so, and then transition to "green phase" and put this nightmare behind us by Memorial Day, and we can live on our lives this summer. Parts of the country are directly impacted by this virus, and it makes sense to use more harsh stay at home orders in these areas. However "one size fits all" policies are insane. How cases are handled in Philadelphia County are much different than how they are handled in Elk County.
Wolf wanted these Central PA counties to remain in "red zone" until after the primaries. All counties have been following the guidance from the CDC. Wolf arbitrarily stated a 50 case per 10,000 resident requirement before transitioning from red to yellow. If you are to remove the nursing home and intensive care data, controlled areas which consist of 70% of all covid cases (!) in the state and are somehow lumped in with general population data, many of the southern counties are in better shape than we are led to believe. Even with this data, York had 42 per 10,000 cases. This meets Wolf's requirements, however he kept them red zone. The Darth Vader quote "I have altered the deal pray I don't alter it further" comes to mind.
Long story short, writing to your local representative works. Pennsylvania is leading the charge, hopefully other states will follow our lead. We have three months worth of data on the virus and we really should be making decisions off of this and not off of fear and emotion.

I'm probably looking at this a bit differently. I'm thrilled that people are going back to work and earning money to feed their families. But I run a business that is dependent on certain industries to stay open. And unless we get back to normal sometime soon things are really going to start breaking down and 30 million unemployed is gonna seem like a drop in the bucket.
I guess I am optimistic that states are starting to open things, and each week that goes by gets better.. but 10% per week means 10 weeks etc.. and Blue states are basically stalled at 0%. And federally, there is still no entertainment industry, travel, international and business travel. It's really worrisome and sad.
