Mr. President,
Nationwide Prime Time Address:
Its time to suspend the earlier guidance published by the f,b,cdc group. Call for an immediate and unconditional nationwide reopen!
Cite recent research indicating that the denominator is so much higher than envisioned. New surveys from epicenter indicate that majority of new cases come from those who were sheltering in place.
Explain this is a D-day moment and we must restore our nation's economy.
It's time. Gov't has done all that it can. Its time for free people exercising individual liberty to go on with their lives. This will eradicate the virus.
It is our only choice right now. Otherwise we lose the country.
Lockdowns are the worst possible response to a virus. Weakens the immune system, slows, but does not halt, the spread, prolongs the life of the virus, and destroys the economy in the process. It’s absolutely asinine that we’re essentially copying Communist China’s draconian response to this thing despite them never being right about anything.
This^
While I agree that may be tough politically. He can stress that at the federal level they only provide recommendations and not enforceable orders, maybe?
But, yeah I personally agree w/ your statement.
And not only that ask Doc F, where the heck is the Aids Vaccine?
NO!! While I agree lockdowns need to end, State Gov’ts are in charge of that, not the feds.
Not true. It's the responsibility of the federal government to protect our constitutional rights, as Barr has pointed out.
When the states decide to completely turn off the constitution, trample on the rights of millions of people, and refuse to ever let go of that power; that is an instance where the federal government needs to step in.
Agreed with alloff.... and thomasgiferson. That's why the OP used the terminology, "call for". It would send a message to Americans to engage in Civil Disobedience and open. Would provide a litigation advantage also. But to the extent that GOV's orders violate the 1st, 4th, 5th, and 14th amendments, which they do, it is a Federal issue. Therefore, DOJ needs to act more than it has thus far.
If that's the way it has to be, then I don't want to hear anyone at the federal level complain about the people in states resorting to physical rioting to get back to normal.
I see the pro-Roy Moore/anti-Luther Strange crowd is in full swing here. I am so glad Trump is President and not you guys. Thanks for making us lose Alabama.
No one here Pro Roy Moore. Saw that coming a mile away. But Strange was also a bad choice. Conservative principles are not enough. You must run decent candidates. Look up why Chris Coons is in the senate and why Harry Reid got his term. Same problem.
Oh,and the only reason that Edwards is gov in LA is he had the good fortune to run against Vitter after the hooker scandal.
It is imperative that state parties run vetted candidates. Moore would not have been in that run off had they ran a decent vetted candidate against him.
Furthermore, the only true path out of this virus other than a proven vaccine is herd immunity. Physicians are in agreement on this and research is showing this. Antibody testing has proven that the denominator is much larger than ever thought. It blows a hole in the shut down strategy.
Then, when you throw in the constitutional damage that is being done in many states there is no choice but let freedom reign. The original 2 weeks to flatten the curve strategy was Fine. The next month not so much. But continuation is flat out unjustifiable. Even Cuomo pointed out this week that 63% of their new cases are from shelter n place patients.
Snarky comments about a judge that allegedly liked to date teenagers is not an argument.
Yet you guys are making the exact same rigid ideological mistake by going with "unconditional reopening" Roy Moore instead of "phased reopening" Big Luther.
The problem with phased reopenings is the extent to which it continues to violate the constitution. That said, if people see things loosening up they will tend to be patient. I think you make a very good point.
But several states are doubling down. eg. Oregon, one of the lightest affected states, has just extended its shut down again. Can't remember exactly would have to look up. But its another example of an out of control governor.
There are multiple motivations for the doubling down. Some are financial (more fed money) but most are political agenda aimed at destroying the President.
You must be from Alabama. I agree w/ you on Moore. Luther would have won. Initially Trump Endorsed Luther. He took some flack for that. Maybe he new about Moore???? Either way Moore was a disaster.
Arresting people for peacefully assembling to address their grievances towards government is unconstitutional. Dunkin' Doughnuts requiring people to wear facemasks for in person service is not.
A phased reopening is the pragmatic, logical approach that most Americans will support. An unconditional reopening is the ideological, fantasy approach that most Americans will reject.
I agree that Reasonable phases would be fine. But Blue State DEMS are off the deep end attempting control.
"most Americans will reject." We disagree on this. Don't know if you have been to a home depot but in our area they are packed.
Check any beach opening and you will see that people are not afraid.
When the resturants open here, they'll be packed.
Hope you have a great weekend. Appreciate the dialog!
