There is some truth to that but you can't stay locked down forever. Herd immunity will occur and needs to. The lockdowns were at best misguided and at worst a malicious conspiracy.
The problem is, if we reopen and things will get really bad, then their logic dictates that we have to stay closed forever, or for 18 months or whatever, to prevent all of these deaths.
But that would destroy the country, so practicality would dictate that we open up regardless, take some precautions, and let 1-3% of the population, mostly elderly, die, so that the rest of the population lives. This is the same reason the elderly used to hop on an ice floe. Except at that time they were willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of their tribe. Nothing's stopping people from staying home and isolating themselves if they want to be extra cautious.
Or that the English uses to consider a nationwide tax to be only used for emergencies, and that the King would call a parliament to meet and decide it.
Shut everything down so we can get prepared for an influx of patients
Ok we're prepared now... Oh we don't have an influx of patients... Ok let's tear down all our preparations.
BTW, everything has to stay shutdown so we don't get an influx of patients.
"YoU dOnT gEt It.....ThAtS WhY tHe HoSpItAlS aRe EmPtY!!"

That's the thing about government...it's designed to grow, not roll things back.
I'm still reeling from having learned the income tax was supposed to be temporary to raise money for war.
One of the first red pills.
