Maybe CA Tesla drivers are more into status than performance. Or they're just so besotted that they don't want to risk injury!

Regular traffic in the Bay Area is very predictable. In some cases, by just leaving half an hour earlier or later, you can cut your commute in half. But I am def enjoying 80 as my anytime freeway speed now : )

Bay Area Tesla Model S P85D owner here. I drive similarly to how user Trump2024 (a D.C. driver) describes his driving experience.

Basically: go with the flow of traffic and let people crazier than you pass on your left by moving to the right in advance if possible and always using your signal. Briefly take her up to 100 whenever possible and no one would be put in real danger because it's just too much fun not to and it takes absolutely nothing to hit triple digits. It never gets old. The car is so quiet nobody even knows what's going on until you're gone.

Unfortunately there are a lot of Teslas on the road now with far less considerate owners so the car is really getting a bad rap in the Bay Area. Happens to every performance mass-market luxury car. Decades ago BMW drivers were well-regarded for genuinely appreciating the machine they were operating and the fact that the company was able to bring that quality to the mass market.

And P.S. I too am enjoying my anytime freeway speed right now, which I am not going to dare write down on a public forum. ;-)
