Kipo, rated Y-7. 5 or 6 episodes in, one of the main kid characters randomly announces that he is not interested in the female kid character because "I'm gay." Already odd because discussion of sexual tension is forced and not age appropriate for the young characters.
Letter for the King, rated TV-PG. Episode 6 (final episode in the season) 2 teenage knights randomly express interest in each other and kiss, while a kid brother sleeps nearby. A creepy and gross next morning scene follows with kid brother.
That's been our strategy. Our cutoff is somewhere in the mid-90's, and only things we already know to be acceptable, with very few select things produced past that time frame. If we like a movie or series, it's DVD's only. No streaming services. Home schooling. Results are great 5 years in. Couldn't be happier! We do a ton of reading every single day. Watch out for recent kids books too though, just because it's a book doesn't mean it's free from that garbage.
