One of my Mosins is an M44 in a factory-original laminated stock. Tula markings, it's one of the only ones I've ever seen. Beautiful rifle, bought it back in the mid-90's when you could get them for $59.95.
Still... Funny story about the MP40. Back in the eighties (when you were able to buy 1/1 scale sized metal diecast gun models from Japan), my friend got a schmeisser MP40. I had to put it together for him... But I must have done something wrong. Instead of being semi automatic (cap firing), it went fully automatic. You scared the living shit out of his little brother one day... Literally 😱
And you didn't have to worry about the feds busting your door down at 4am. Things were better back then. I wanted one of those but cant justify the gimped stock thanks to the encumbering ATF regulations. The country is a pathetic shell of what it used to be and nothing is improving. I actually get annoyed when I see patriotism and flag wavers, I think to myself..what are you so proud off?

I got a laminated M44 a log time ago, too, but they weren't that cheap around here. Cost $110.
