Great idea.

Delivery network? Who is going to drive it from the farm to you? Sounds like a good idea.

We are talking about beef here. The rancher needs to sell to a processor. The processors have large labor forces. Those workers are either sick, furloughed because of sickness, stuck home with sick relatives or who knows what.

The processor is the vulnerable link in the chain and it is not doing what it needs to do.

The small rancher has to get rid of the cattle. As nobody is processing, the price the rancher gets for the animal is low, low. That's the problem. The small rancher isn't capitalized to operate but make little for a long time. The large ranch can weather the storm. The small one can't.

Then the ranch is sold. Oops.

If someone delivered a live steer or beef or cow or whatever it's called to you, you would have to become the processor: kill it, gut it, and dress it. That's the problem. There is nobody to do that now. It's not transportation.

Now, there are lots of hunters here who probably COULD do that. Hmm.

A lot of this isn't as scary as they make it out to be. Yes, people are going to lose their xxxxxx because of China Virus, but nobody really knows yet to what end.

It is math. Simple numbers. At some point the small ranch runs out of numbers and then can't keep the farm. The farm is taxed. It has to pay its way as a farm.

Well maybe those taxes can be forgiven for now, or something?

But that means layoffs in government. At that point government stops caring who buys that farm as long as the taxes are paid on it.
