Seth didn't give the emails, someone else did, but was in contact with wikileaks negotiating handing over information about irregularities with voter data.
NSA picked it up but it wouldn't be able to act openly. Seth was then either killed as an example or in an intel op gone wrong. They intended to steal his laptop then make it look like he was robbed but he got one over on them by surprise. One grabbed his laptop but he grabbed their head and worked them into a headlock.
While Seth had the would be thief pinned his accomplice panicked and shot Seth in the back to release his partner.
They might not want it to blow open if it turns out the dems and NSA were spying domestically. They may have worked out he was talking to wikileaks but not what about.
The NSA, CIA, etc were likely to have been monitoring all communications best they can to wikileaks and would have picked up many Americans along the way. Lets then say Seth is one of them and then is mysteriously murdered. Then there's evidence of a cover up of a link to wikileaks. It starts to look very bad.
Dems end up killing their own spying on US citizens and he never even got to leak anything just got caught in the trawl.
