The difference between musk and gates is that musk isn't trying to conspire with the government to make the chips mandatory, whether or not you think its a bad choice to interface with technology is debatable, and it should be talked about; but musk is working in service of humanity, not himself.
He's a capitalist about it, he's absolutely on our side. People can consent to a chip in their brain. What separates him from people like Bill Gates is that Gates is trying to use the virus as an excuse to have mandatory chips on people with sly language relating to a vaccine. That's some Nazi shit: it's for your safety and everyone else's so you HAVE to do it or you're an enemy of the state. Musk is just a rich dude keeping up with the times and making money while springing humanity forward- there isn't anything more American than that. And frankly, Neuralink sounds like it could be really helpful and I'm excited for it to come to the market. It's no more harmful than plastic surgery- it's not like every woman is mandated fake tits and a huge ass.
Yes, we're eventually going to explore/exist in Deep Space away from Earth; most of us forever...BUT we're not going to do it wearing a deep sea divers suit with an aqualung.
You don't need a man-machine neural interface to run a space ship. Why not just a mouse and keyboard?
Plus the technology may have dangers, who knows what putting a chip in your brain will do. Willing to die 10 years earlier than usual for it? Might not be the healthiest decision.
Big difference between mandatory chipping/ ID and voluntary brain interface implants. Musk sent a tweet with his brain. Some people want to be Ironman. Elon is redpilled AF
This is a very touchy subject, for sure.. HOWEVER, chips can and will solve all sorts of brain problems and injuries. We shouldn't just ignore it because it can (and will) be weaponized.
Voluntary chipping to fix an injury is a lot different than a government mandated ID chip.
I don't know how else to phrase it. At the end of the day, why do you care if it's something people chose to do? Why do their choices, that have no effect on your life what-so-ever, matter to you?
If people WILLINGLY ASK to walk around as half-robotic government drones, let them. That's their choice, not ours.
I was just making a joke. In this case I actually agree with you, and think the logic is sound. Kinda maybe sorta. With the caveat that I know nothing about the particular chip, interface, or abilities it might produce.
One standard of justice is "your rights end where mine begin." This may result in unfair competition, whether at work or school. That's one (hypothetical) objection that could be very substantial. If the only result were bringing healing or restored function to otherwise disabled people? I'd be all for it.
So far this whole topic is purely hypothetical. It's one thing to build a chip, it's another thing entirely to get it to interface with a human brain as designed. Back to jokes, if you remember Max Headroom? The debugging process could be, "interesting."
Dr Ben Carson might have something to say on the topic if he were to study it for a while. Elon Musk, George Soros and Bill mark of the Beast Gates will hopefully not be teaming up on this. I'd be very surprised if Musk has the expertise himself to get it to function as designed. What Drs are involved would be something to scrutinize.
I don't think this will be coming to market soon. Robocop, DARPA super soldiers, nanobots in vaccine, all this is looming as psychopathic potential.
Please don't associate this guy with our side. He wants to put chips in our brains

He's enjoying those electric car subsidies though

I am a transhumanist and will be plugging into the matrix to communicate with my ship.
Unless this whole ascension stuff happens and our bodies become the ships.
Until then Ill believe what I see.
If Elon makes these things and they have no adverse effects, I will start to augment myself.
Its an individual decision and I do believe in God. So don't try with the semantics. Its been a long road thinking about this.
To fly these ships of the future we will have to have a man-machine neural interface.
We will need brave souls willing to risk everything for the technological evolution of mankind.
Smarter, faster, stronger, healthier. Nanobots to rid us from toxins, nanobots to increase oxygen absorption so we can run faster, longer. ect...
Of course these things can be used for evil. Just like a gun, it can be used for good to defend yourself, or evil to hurt others.
All technology needs to be treated for what it is. A tool.

What would Jethro Tull do? Asking the important questions

I would never be part of wave one of a new tech. Too dangerous.
Work out the bugs and lets see what it'll do.
I don't see this kind of stuff for at least 20 years. 2040-2050.
Elons first task is to help disabled people. That will show the world what the technology CAN do.
No different than CCPvirus
There it is. The stupidest thing I'll read all week.
the truth

"Voluntary chipping"
You make it sound like playing golf
