Post modernism (successor to Marxism) declares everything being about power. No truth, no virtue, no empathy, only POWER. So of course they admire powerful people of their tribe in full disregard of their corruption.

With respect to Mr. Bongino, it's worse, and more pernicious, than he's stating here. Progressives don't see what Obama did as corrupt, even though if Trump did the exact same thing they would absolutely see it as corrupt.
Leftists are raised and educated on the bedrock that any concept labeled as 'conservative' is wrong, by default. This is the base belief of their entire worldview, and without any standard of morality or immutable notions of what evil behavior is, they see no issue with supporting the actions of an ally they would denounce in an opponent. They're fighting for good, against bad. The massive cognitive dissonance they feel at this obvious betrayal of other parts of their belief system (fairness, freedom to speak your mind, being intellectual, etc.) they drown in psychoactive drugs and shiftless hedonism.
Unfortunately, this is also the reason pointing out their contradictions is a total waste of time. They have been inoculated against understanding their own minds.
Remember, this is a group of people who have convinced themselves that killing a fully developed human being while it's still inside it's mother is morally and legally justifiable and correct, but minutes later when the same person is outside it's mother, killing it would be first degree murder. You're not getting through that sort of psychosis with words.
