So the people most guilty of suppressing free speech are claiming that they're "essential to the future of free speech"? What's next? China claiming that concentration camps and slave labor are inhumane?
What they are saying is technically correct - big tech IS essential to the "future of free speech," in the same way that Soetoro wanted to "fundamentally change America."
This is straight out of the Lawfare crowd's playbook.
Can you please elaborate on how poor rando citizens are supposed to sue (that means demonstrate loss or injury) a big lawyered up corp? Criminal proceedings are needed; that's on government dime. There is more than enough century old anti trust law to put Facebook away, we just need a prosecutor with some balls.
So, this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think they should NOT be regulated, provided they are acting as a platform and not a publisher. To date, however, the extreme censorship of right of center voices has put most of big tech firmly in the publisher category.
This. I'm perfectly fine with not regulating them, but then they HAVE to let everyone speak without all this banning/shadowbanning/post removal bullshit.
Unless CEOs and investors are taking an oath of office wherein they swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States... I'd say they are NOT the ones who are to be protecting constitutional rights.

“War is peace. Freedom is slavery.”
McCarthy was right.

Projection!
Well, all that needs to be proved is one instance of censorship and their are thousands. So it's proven already that their aim is NOT FREE speech.
'free speech'.....as prescribed by libtarded ugly unfuckable lardarsed cunts that were bullied at school [ for good reason ]
Regulations aren't needed. Laws, or the relaxation of them, that make it easier for us all to sue the fuck out of them are the solutions.

These assholes need to be quaranteened.

Big tech is asshoe
True: Essential for ending it.
If Facebook's servers suddenly disappeared over night humanity would lose nothing of value.
screw FakeBook
Facebook should be nationalized and regulated as a Public Utility.
