Here's the actual truth:
Supreme court did not rule 1 bit on the merits. They did not declare anything a crime. They did not uphold any laws.
For emphasis - They did not reinstate any laws.
All they did was say "Hey 9th circuit, you cited bad reasons in making this decision - please rereview the case and make your decision for better reasons".
that's it. just kicked it back to dc circuit to be reviewed again.
Case is back in the 9th circuit again, and they will undoubtedly reach the same conclusion, just with different cited reasons - and all supreme court will have done is kick the can down the road and this case will be back at the supreme court next year where they have a chance to actually address the merits of the case.
