How a state polls and conducts their vote is up to the state. Not a constitutional scholar by any means but im pretty sure there is wording in there that confirms this. So any new law to overwrite this would be a tenth amendment violation and you would see HUGE pushback from states and some lawsuits as well. Even though the presidency is a federal level election, the state elections arent going vote for vote. Its to determine how the state will spend their electoral college votes. Were the electoral college erased and the presidency being on a popular vote basis across statelines, we could potentially see voter id mandates for presidency ONLY. But then all presidential power and campaigns would be focused solely on appeasing the coastal cities. It will take every person in this country voting to make it impossible to flip the vote, and IDK if that would even work, because they have it rigged so electronically flipping the vote after the fact OR LATE THE SAME NIGHT OF THE VOTE, is easy and that is what they do. You cannot tell who actually submitted their own ballot by mail, and which people did not even realize their ballot was used electronically, unbeknownst to them, by the Left, flipping however amount of votes they need for the win? The Left can just thrown away 50,000 or 5,000,000, whatever they need, Republican mail-in ballots, and added the same number of votes by people who are registered, but did not even vote in the election, and add to the Dem candidates' totals, and the Dem candidate wins, and no way to tell if a real person, or someone else actually voted. How could you even recount who voted, and whose ballot was stolen and used without someone's knowledge? You would have to call or check with every single person in the state to see if they in fact voted, HOW THEY VOTED, or if their ballot was just electronically used and they knew nothing about it.
