Anyone have any authors or books in general they would recommend?

My favorite genre is historical fiction but I'm not opposed to other genres.

Based authors that include patriotic undertones in their work would be cool.

Thanks pedes.

W.E.B Griffin (stop after the 6th book of The Corps series and the 5h book of “The Badge” series, when his kid started screwing up the stories). “Brotherhood of war” series is great and also a back-door into a lot of history.

Robert. A Heineken.

Timothy Zahn.

Sarah Hoyt.

David Weber.

John Ringo.

Tom Kratman.

David Drake.

Well if you’re looking for a time killer with some relevance to today The Civil War: A narrative by Shelby Foote is a treasure.

Reads like a novel.

If you like historical fiction, check out these histories. They're quite good with balancing the narrative of history and facts.

1776 by David McCullough. About the situation, people, and events leading up to 1776

The Earth is Weeping by Peter Cozzens (One might think this is anti-US Army being a book about Indians, but I think it does well at not picking sides. Good guys and bad guys and crazies on both sides of the war)

The Glorious Cause by Robert Middlekauf. Havent finished this yet, and it's the most detail heavy of these three books, but it's looking pretty comprehensive.
