Me personally, during this whole thing i have never felt any fear whatsoever regarding the virus. Yes this virus has taken out lots of people worldwide, but you know what else has, the flu. Each year worldwide, influenza kills 500,000 people every year. And that was from a google search i saw early on when. Funnily enough this statistic no longer shows up when you type in how many people die from influenza each year worldwide. What, did people just stop dying from the flu this year??

I agree. The media does the same doom and gloom stuff in Florida for every hurricane that is developing. You can hear it in their voices, all short choppy words with an emphasis on urgency. From the onset, I fully blame the media for wipping average Joe and Karen into the level of fear we see now. When that started to fade, they are now ratching it up again with this pediatric syndrome that "could be linked to Covid." What a fucking joke.
We were at the beach during Hurricane Irene having a great time enjoying having the place to ourselves as everyone else had cleared out. My mom calls from the Midwest, panicked because she saw on CNN it was all death and destruction! Heck, it was one of our best trips ever!
I live in Florida and the media will ALWAYS focus on the areas where the most damage happened, which is usually in areas where the houses are not up to proper hurricane code so of course they're going to be destroyed. But where I live, all the houses are built properly and are up to code so there's barely any damage, except for the occasional fallen branch, broken fence, and small flooding in a very low part of the property. Usually the area next to sidewalks.
The thing I miss the most about living in Florida was stepping outside during the eye of the storm. Experience the odd calmness.

Awesome! Some of my best times were things like this! We weathered a tornado at a campground once, 150 people sheltered in a tiny basement, and it missed is by just a couple miles, but still wuite a bit of destruction. Manitou springs, 2008 i believe, good times.

I just took a cross country road trip during the pandemic and had the best time-no traffic, no one at the hotels, and no one else on the beach! I highly recommend disaster travel! Oh yeah, and gas was cheap and I was doing my part to improve the economy.

I was talking to someone recently and they opined that people are all scared to die now because they have no religion and death is unknown to them. When you spend the first 20, 30, 40 years ago watching Star Wars, playing vidya games and living in Mom's basement, of course you are going to fear death because you already fear living.

So keeping these people in lockdown, losing their jobs, their financial freedom, their civil liberties, is going to piss them off. Defending this status quo is going to piss them off. Pushing for it to last longer is going to piss them off.
The ONLY case where you can sustain this powergrab is if you make the OVERWHELMING majority of people VERY, VERY AFRAID. If they aren't afraid, they will be angry. If they were afraid, and the fear has worn off, it will turn to anger. And they won't aim this at the president, they will aim it at people telling them to stay indoors.
So the MSM has to work overtime convincing people to be afraid. They have to repeat death numbers every day. They have to come up with new complications to attribute to the virus. They have to get doctors and reliable people on TV talking about how dangerous it is. It is literally their only play. It's wearing off now, and we're seeing the anger blowing up in their faces already in special elections. If they stoke this anger more in Q3 it will be A DEVASTATING LANDSLIDE for the republicans.

Yes, it's a good tell-tale sign when they tell you in advance how bad things are going to get. If they were legitimately reporting on a real situation, they'd be reacting to the actual events on a day-by-day basis. When they start acting like they can see into the future, that's when you know they're making the whole situation up to advance an agenda.

There was a brief period of time when I considered that maybe there might be something they weren't telling us about the virus, some long term or severe effects that they weren't disclosing that necessitated the extreme Ebola level measures and precautions they were pushing, but that has long since passed and I now believe that my original assessment of it being 90% political fuckery was correct.
