We wouldn't have a United States of America without the electoral college. This is a very important point that not everyone knows and I hope people will read this and spread the message.
The common explanation of the electoral college is that it is a safe guard in case the people elect someone terrible and that vote can be overrode. The main reason for the electoral college was a comprise between the larger populated states and the smaller states. The small states would not sign the constitution because, in theory, two or three large states could determine US policy without needing any approval of the small states if things were decided on popular vote. Something like California, Florida, New York, and Illinois could do now if it was by popular vote. As a side note, we were operating under the articles of confederation before the constitution was signed in 1789. Just like the Bill of Rights that was agreed upon adding to the constitution so the states would adopt the constitution, the electoral college was fundamental in bringing the states together.
So please inform anyone who believes in the popular vote that there would not be a United States of America without the electoral college and the union would probably dissolve if the electoral college was scraped.
I know we have fake polls but has anyone done a poll of polls to figure out which ones are fake?
There is a lot of white noise with polls so that they can attempt to hid their skew.
Who wants to bet there are three polls released tomorrow that contradict this one?
looks like they did! i stand corrected, thanks
