Fuck it. It's like some chumps prefer house arrest, another depression, and potential food supply problems. The economy has to open, fact. Orange Man will always be bad no matter what he does; he could dress as Santa and give every child in America an xmas present, and it wouldn't matter. POTUS operating principle must be to ignore Pedocrat treason weasels at all times.

Destineed369 28 points ago +28 / -0

It’s insane. The vast majority of companies big and small in America would fly off the ground running when these idiots lift the restrictions. Instead we’re keeping our economy chained up in the basement with joe Biden and I’m afraid at some point it might be too traumatized to get straight back to work.

I propose a national go to work day. Just everyone go to work. Fuck the authorities.

3
FakeNametag 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was never off work, so I can't protest in that way, but I did refuse to put a mask on for the privilege of shopping at Costco. I gave my business to Albertsons.

We should all be resisting in any way possible.

Go on TV.
Address The Nation.
Announce that we are free to return to Pre-Covid (normal) life.
Proclaim that any Governors found to be infringing on Peoples Constitutional rights will be removed (by force if needed) by Federal Officers.

POTUS needs to jump start this shit, like yesterday!

Oh. And make Chyna rue the day.

While I agree in principle and would love to see this, lets' face it: If he did that and somehow the death rate exploded - he'd be crucified and not win re-election. I'm no longer above thinking that the leftists would somehow intentionally kill more people to further their agenda. As painful as it is, even for me to be sitting here under the thumb of Gov. Blackface Baby Killer Coonman, GEOTUS needs to let states decide for themselves - and give these idiotic governors enough rope to hang themselves with. As other states open up, like Georgia and nothing fucking happens, the pressure will mount.

Every case I've seen taken to court has been found to be in favor of the plantiff with the courts basically telling that state government to shove it. Please provide examples to contrary if anyone knows of them. As other states continue to stay locked down, hopefully more people will sue and be conscientious objectors. It's guaranteed that more people will just do whatever they want and ignore the bullshit - that's already happening.

Trump is messaging in depth.. Suggesting the Military in regard to the Virus and a vaccine is a warning to our enemies... Read the subtext Gates recently compared Trump to JFK a sitting president assasinated by deepstate interests...Now Trump responds by suggesting the Military take the Lead in distributing the Vaccine "cure".. Ie Trump is telling the Deepstate actors he is prepared to respond to their threats and actions accordingly....

How can anything be done "fast" when it's up to blue state governors, who are happy to burn down their entire state, as long as it helps their party in November? Serious question, how can any of this be done "fast" when half the country is hell bent on dragging it out as long as possible?

8
HiGloss 8 points ago +8 / -0

I think blue states want to take advantage of this to create a new system where people are more dependent on the government for basic things. Some politicians are testing the limits of the publics willingness to give them all the power.

1
Yucky 1 point ago +1 / -0

Absolutely. In the span of two short months, they've got most of the population begging for a government check. They've also tested, and proved, the fact that they can shut down entire states on a whim due to some "manufactured crisis".

They are loving COVID-1984.

9
ServerTowerofBabel 9 points ago +9 / -0

They're trying to hold their states hostage for bailouts of decades of corruption and to foul up the election.

Jig is up if we're out here living life going to restaurants and public events.

2
Yucky 2 points ago +2 / -0

No bailouts for poorly run states!

11
charbatch 11 points ago +11 / -0

I think these tyrant governors are misjudging their strategy of tanking their state economies. People will only take so much before mass protests will erupt. This will backfire. Especially when people see that red States that have opened are doing fine.

As the days and weeks pass you can add years onto the economy recovering. Many places were only seeing growth in certain industries past 2016 from the 2008 crash.

Businesses are only really going to hold out for another month. Then they will be closing up as they aren't going to open if they aren't going to make profits.

21
Afeazo 21 points ago +21 / -0

The 2008 crash was different. This crash was purely artificial, we imposed it on ourselves. Look at places opening up restaurants this week, they are packed with lines out the door. Non essential manufacturing has a lot of catching up to do. Everyone is going to rush to beauty salons and barber shops. People are going to want to to have some drinks, see some movies, play some golf, go tanning, etc.

We are going to see an insane surge when our entire country is opened back up. Pair it with the fact that a large amount of people are making more on unemployment now then they did when they were working, a lot of people also have more money to spend. We are going to recover so fast that Democrats will shit themselves.

I think that’s why they are extending the shutdown so long. They know the economy is going to rebound very fast. They want that fast rebound to happen when a democrat is president, so they can say “see, look how fast we were able to fix things, Trump failed you all, he couldn’t do it”

Too bad it’s not gonna happen, democRATS.

Here is Maine, I will not be opening dine in service. I never closed because I never believed that this was just a two week thing so we've adapted well. I dont want to open myself up to the liability of collecting personal data and I believe it infringes on peoples liberty/privacy. This contact tracing thing is dumb as fuck - like our governor, austin powers.

2
charbatch 2 points ago +2 / -0

How can requiring private businesses to collect private information on other citizens be legal?

17
Daemoness 17 points ago +17 / -0

I'm in Missouri. We opened the state on 05/04, and my DH and I went to a restaurant back on Tuesday. All the waitstaff were wearing masks , the laminated permanent menus were replaced by disposable paper ones , and they were making an effort to keep diners more separate than usual (they like to keep diners bunched up to make it easier on waitstaff and bussers, rather than spreading them throughout the dining room(s). I am cautiously optimistic, and I hope the rest of the country can follow suit, sooner rather than later. And though my younger self would never have believed it, I am so glad and relieved to have wound up in MO.

8
Lion_partyUSA 8 points ago +8 / -0

14
Vegans4Trump 14 points ago +14 / -0

That is great but how realistic is it to keep restaurants at only 10% capacity and force workers to wear masks? Honestly I wouldn't want to pay to go out to eat and be treated like a contagious subhuman. That is not comfortable or welcoming at all. I'm in the KC area and they are also going to be taking down your ID if you go into a shop or out to eat. Many people like myself aren't going to be going out either because they are still scared of the virus or because they don't want to be treated like garbage and not feel welcome. The only solution is FULL opening 100% back to normal.

11
bigleaguetrump 11 points ago +11 / -0

they are also going to be taking down your ID if you go into a shop or out to eat.

Why are they allowing restaurants to deny service to black people? The left tells us they can't get IDs wherever voter ID is brought up.

4
Vegans4Trump 4 points ago +4 / -0

You're right, maybe if we just tell them we are too stupid to know how to get an ID and they'll let us in!

7
Daemoness 7 points ago +7 / -0

Agreed. My restaurant did not require patrons to give IDs (if they had, we'd have walked right back out) . I hope sincerely that KC backs off , if there's pushback.

4
Vegans4Trump 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's good to hear. Unfortunately KC is getting more liberal by the day so I don't have high expectations. Many people here are begging the government to be their slave masters at this point.

It’s not everyone in the County. A few Towns tried to reopen following the Governors directives. The County then started threatening them with legal action with the implication they’d withhold aid to their small businesses.

Most of the town’s are in a precarious enough financial situation as is. They can’t afford a protracted legal battle with the county.

3
Daemoness 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think KC is definitely saner than STL ; they're reopening things at a fairly decent clip, though not as fast as the rural areas where I am.

7
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 7 points ago +7 / -0

Unfortunately the "phase 1" opening here in Oregon is so restrictive that bars and most restaurants here are unlikely to reopen, which makes up the bulk of businesses in my town. Bar seating is allowed only if the bar faces a wall or a window, which effectively eliminates all bar seating. Restaurant seating require six feet between tables, which would limit the small restaurants here to only a couple tables.

Most of the restaurants are doing take out and we are helping to keep them going that way, but the bars are fucked.

I can tell you many businesses to do with any kind of tourism or catering won't be coming back if it drags out beyond June.

Owners are not going to open to no profits. Just for the sack of opening.

I'm just sitting here waiting to see how deep of a recession we are going to be facing in the years to come. By the looks of things, certain parts of the US will never recover from this.

6
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 6 points ago +6 / -0

Very true. I live in a small town that is almost 100% reliant on tourism and all of our summer festivals and events have already been canceled. The Governor is also keeping the state parks here locked down through the summer, when they are normally filled to capacity with campers. The local economy is already devastated and the Democrats here don't care and are actually whining about even the ridiculously restrictive "phase 1" opening being too soon.

2
TrumpsWall 2 points ago +3 / -1

Huh? Never recover? That’s loser talk

5
panthicc 5 points ago +5 / -0

Trump needs to intervene in states like Michigan. Our governor says full reopening requires a vaccine so we will be closed down forever. Even when (or IF) a vaccine is available she will again move the goal post and say we need to wait until the vaccine is proven effective and everyone has it. This will take years.

We need to just ignore the governor. And if she refuses to allow us to ignore her then we need to remove her.

16
Butthurt 16 points ago +16 / -0

He said he has the power to step in, but wants the governors to figure it out. I think it’s obvious he needs to now

5
SisterCovfefe 5 points ago +6 / -1

Yeah I think the commerce clause will come into play at some point.

I was trying to explain this to a Spanish friend. Their constitution allows the federal govt to supercede the autonomous regions IF their parliment agrees. Whereas the US constitution limits the ability of the fed to do the same EXCEPT under certain situations.

That's not to say the autonomous regions don't have some say. For example, each region had to petition the Spanish government to move into Phase 1 of reopening. The region we're in wanted to do it by Sanitation Region (think of them as counties even though they are more like Health Departments) which actually made some sense. Castille and Leon is similar to California with large cities and even more rural areas.

It has been an interesting and often infuriating lesson in comparative civics.

9
hollow_fang 9 points ago +9 / -0

It’s obvious that the governors are not going to figure it out. They are purposefully committing economic suicide in order to spite him, and they won’t stop until he’s removed from office (never). He needs to step in now. This cannot continue.

2
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's my favorite part of the guidelines here, where the State concedes that it might not be possible to require diners to wear masks while they are actually eating. They still want restaurants to require them though. I guess the idea is that you move the mask down to take a bite, then move it back up while you chew and swallow.

sustainable_saltmine 15 points ago +15 / -0

I know he keeps saying this and he is right and on the federal level we can do this. You can't make it reality without smacking down the Democrat Governors blocking the way. They aren't being affected much by protests, if they give at all, it's a small carrot being dangled in front of you to "placate the masses": "you can go to the parks, but must social distance, no playgrounds, no common areas, no chairs, no congregating, no bathroom facilities."
Sorry but that isn't any kind of open at all.
"Ok, you can go to the beach but same as the parks"
Nope, sorry. Not good enough.
"Ok, you can do all that, and open stores for curbside pickup only, church services and drive-in movies fine BUT have to keep windows closed, masks if you're anywhere outside your car."
Still NO.
"When we allow restaurants to open, capacity will only be 25% of what the fire marshal says, staggered tables, and you have to sign in a log with contact info to come in and dine so we can contact-trace you"
NO!

And if you protest, the governor insults you and tells everyone "because of their disobedience, 3 more months of lockdown"
You open your business anyway? Well on top of your mounting business debt, not your business WILL go under, your license gets pulled, they fine you into oblivion and you go to jail. Want to fight it? better have a DAMN good lawyer on pro bono because you can't afford the legal fees, and you're likely screwed because the judge is loyal to the administration of the Governor and will rule against you.

AlohaSnackbar 11 points ago +12 / -1

Send the feds in to one state to arrest a Governor for ongoing violations of civil liberties. Then the next state, then the next. Put them in actual jail, you know, the ones with raging covid-19, and they'll come around. Or they won't, either way, fuck them!

7
MuadDon 7 points ago +9 / -2

Nah. The states do what they want, and they elect who they want. Sucks if a shithead got into power but that's the citizens' fault for not trying hard enough. It's their job to correct their own mistakes, not DC. Unless you want to continue to cede power to a vat of corruption stirred by commies and globalists.

8
AlohaSnackbar 8 points ago +8 / -0

The constitution is king. Just as we wouldn't allow a Governor to declare Asians a slave class, take away their property, and put them in chains, we can't allow governors to keep abusing our civil rights.

That is what the fed is for. What other "legal" option is there? We can send in the law, or we can become the law. I'd like to avoid the second as it will be very messy. I'm willing to do it if necessary, but all reasonable effort should be extended to not have to have a revolution.

5
MuadDon 5 points ago +7 / -2

The legal option = open your businesses. Rally every restaurant owner to join together and make a stand, what do you have to lose? The money that's dried up? The only reason it hasn't happened en masse is citizens are cowering before their state govt.

2
AlohaSnackbar 2 points ago +3 / -1

Gosh, if only there was a separate sovereign to support the rights of we the people.

But yes, you are correct, the government has no control when it comes to all of us coming together. But subtract 50% of people who are on the left Another 15-25% who believe the news about how "severe" this disease is, another 10-15% for those that know it's horseshit, but aren't brave enough to do anything. Now we're at a sufficiently small enough number for the governors and their SS enforcers to shut down.

Now the good news is that with the exception of the lefties who'll fuck over our entire nation for their temper tantrum, everyone else gets more knowledgeable and brave by the week. When that hits a tipping point is tough to predict, especially since the governors are using a "pressure relief valve" by letting (fuck them, we don't need their permission) certain business sectors to re engage.

It's a grim math, and why we need a Hannibal to cut this gordian knot

5
Thingthing22 5 points ago +6 / -1
