If the case had been filed in federal court (although I don't know how they would have jurisdiction), then it would potentially set a precedent for other federal courts.

But, to get to the US Circuit Court, you must first appeal the decision of a federal district court. And the federal district court won't get involved unless it involves federal law.
SCOTUS has granted certiorari for direct appeals from a federal district court (bypassing the US Circuit Court), but it's very rare and usually involves a significant Constitutional question.
