I used to think that Orwell's idea that people can be brainwashed into believing that "freedom is slavery" was ridiculous. No way are people this dumb.
I've now witnessed people who, not only willingly give up their rights, but also see people who view those who don't give up their rights as "dangerous". Orwell knew what he was talking about.
And everyday there's more than a "20 minute hate" (or whatever it was in the book), it's a 24/7 hate, w/the help of social media and all the media, movie stars, etc. So sad, and so scary.
