First post I've made here, so sorry if I'm doing it wrong.

@DrKarlynB on Twitter (she's the liberal that went to the Trump rally, good person to follow if you are on Twitter and haven't) posted a video about the knitting community wars - specifically detailing the story behind green socks being racist. Apparently, she's going to do a series on the "Knitting Wars" in the future.

Yes, I did say Knitting Wars.

And yes, green socks being racist kind of being a maybe meme...

These are things now.

Apparently.

Peak absurdity yet?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4dzhiSQAWA Or search "The REAL story behind why knitting green socks is racist, in the land of SJW make believe" on YouTube.

It's crazy how many people/fronts there are in this crazy culture war...

Nope, this is literally knitting groups.

Apparently, after 2016, knitting hobby/share/picture/etc groups - like everything ELSE - became politicized with SJWs moving in and bulling, attacking, "calling out", shunning, and so on anyone who was pro-Trump, not anti-Trump, or not SUFFICIENTLY anti-Trump, as well as anyone they could label, in any way, from the "Basket of Deplorables" (sexist, racist, etc etc - you know the drill.)

So the "Knitting War" is another front in the overall culture war/meme war.

Apparently, someone liked a picture of green socks and this person - a SJW - was bullied by the other SJWs over it (because they stalk EACH OTHER to keep EACH OTHER "in line", apparently; it's not just the right they attack) - and then the non-SJWs made a joke about green socks being racist, making fun of the SJWs...and some of them actually started worrying that, like the 4chan OK sign, some people might actually take it seriously and decide that green socks WERE racist.

...and, apparently, it became a thing. XD

It has permeated just about any pastime you can think of. Embroidery, cooking, painting, jewelry making, quilting, wine tasting everything!

Some people thinks it's their duty to "educate boomers."

The worst was when Ravelry decided to not allow anyone to upload pro Trump projects and patterns. Of course everyone had to take a side.

Today there was a "discussion" about the ADA and whether bloggers were being "abelist" on their blogs wrt their choice of fonts, colors, whether their image alt tags are filled out etc etc etc. This when how to type blogs are increasingly visual with videos and lots of graphics. The condecension level was very high.

Few months ago, a car centered utube I watch had a visiting Brit so they took him shooting at the range, way outside the usual content of the channel,. Comment section went insane, few agitators stirring up threats against the boiz got dogpilled by regular people. Kinda awesome seeing just how many patriots were there though, none wanted to start any shit, but no nonsense was allowed to pass unchallenged.

I just wanted to unwind and watch an apolitical car show.

Commie bastards, just admit it, you want to outlaw happyness. Can you not see why that puts people off?

Shouldn't we let the experts on sanity dictate what is and isn't sane though? We can trust the experts right?

Ah. I thought maybe it was because the above mentioned Anon, had outed many pedowood scumbags, and announce he would be wearing green socks at an upcoming awards show to clue us in to who was actually speaking.

Why get tripped out about green socks though? Wonder what the timeline of that starting vs hollywoodAnon posts? May be an explanation.

Anon made the posts January 2018.

When did this become a thing for the knitting world? Anyone know?

Not really sure. I wasn't looking too closely at the time stamps in the video (of the Tweets, etc that she references.)

Finally got to watch the vid. Keked when the Knitters started discussing evergreen. Seems paid disrupters are keyed in to this woman since her great experience at the Manchester rally got picked up as news globally.

Why green socks? Ok, off to ponder on something else. It would be hilarious to run with it though. Once everything is considered racist, then nothing actually is.

This woman has an ability to connect with current libs that I'll never manage, I'm glad she's on team, thanks for sharing.
