Ventilators are extremely tough on the lungs and their longterm consequences are well-known. They're only supposed to be used in very rare circumstances because you're likely to affect that patient for life.
You generally get on a ventilator to give you more time alive. Alive with damaged lungs is better than dead but I don't see the benefit for damaging damaged lungs
Do we hate India? Putting people on ventilators is the incorrect treatment method and has a higher death rate than other treatment options.
