Has Musk always been based or has he progressively become more and more based recently?
I’m thinking he was based all along but had an idealistic attitude with dealing with the progressives and thinking it could work out, and now he realizes that is not the case.
This was me. Raised conservative, said fuck you stick-in-the-muds, I envision better.
I wanted to be progressive, pretty fucking badly, in the truest sense of the word.
Then SJWs hit, and the tsunami of leftism, and I realized I was a man without a paddle.
Jordan Peterson, a bunch of others, and here I am. Plus I realized my work ethic and leftism are black and white. Leftists don't work, and fucking refuse to, by and largest . That was the first bucket of cold water. I worked 325+ hrs a month/98 hrs a week for 3 years at my "peak", so to speak, to get to where I am now. I swore off the left. Hate em.
Ironically, the only possible way that progressivism could have ever worked is if straight white men had been in charge of the whole thing. We would have kept it to basic principles and told the assholes just looking for attention that their bullshit has no place here.
Similarly, the only way communism would ever work would be in the Midwest amongst conservatives with a common work ethic and sense of personal responsibility. I mean even then it probably wouldn’t work but if there was ever a chance, that’s where it would be.
I upvoted you because I understand what you mean in your hypothetical, but neither will ever work because every individual would have to be exactly the same in every way with the same exact goals. There can be no divergence or autonomy or those systems won’t work.
It all comes down to: "in good faith".
Progressivism and communism require no less than 100% good faith actors. "We're all in this together" could have tremendous, ridiculous impact on us and our species.

Glad someone of power and wealth besides Mr.President understands the situation and the times we are living in.
Wikipedia page on tarring and feathering is a great read. Seems like a truly effective deterrent. Some other great lessons there about history repeating itself and the Know Nothing Movement.
The biggest takeaway was that each example of a person that got tarred and feathered immediately stopped doing the thing that got them tarred and feathered.
Starting with every, single, Democrat in these United Stated
