Question I have had for everyone....I work in the medical field. I am surrounded by COVID..we work in a soup of disease everyday....do we wear PPE yes...but everyday...I am exposed to the disease...we used to joke that we have immunity because we are exposed to diseases all the time...so why are Paramedics, EMT's, Police, Fire, hospital workers, liquor stores, gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and banks working ? Are they magically immune....noooo so back to where I was going with this..who gets sick....the only people who have gotten ill at work and hospitalized or sick at home are those who have comorbidities-hypertension, respiratory, diabetes, or cardiac issues,,,and obesity....my neighbor who is in Law Enforcement died...sadly..however he did have some of the above co morbidities..have many people died...yes...with that being said...again it has nothing to do with age...it is comorbidities and an inability to have good self care.We are all taking Zinc, Vit C, Magnesium, selenium, chromium, Vit D-3 at least 5000units and Vit B....lowering consumption of sugar...and finding time to be gratful...at first it(covid -flu) was like a bomb went off....it was the worst flu season..we have ever seen...Pedes it is slowing down....like all flu's there are times in humanity it does become a pandemic...but if you are smart ...there is no reason to not have businesses open,.,..be with friends, family,,and go to church, synagogues etc...this is cruel and unusual punishment...you do not have to be in prison at home...write your representatives. See friends...enjoy your life...
again it has nothing to do with age...it is comorbidities and an inability to have good self care.
Comorbidities increase with age, so age does have a lot to do with it. The observed data reflects this.
Hindsight is 20/20, but this thing would have been here and gone if we had just left our daily lives untouched and immediately implemented the HCQ treatment regime.
It also would have been here and gone if we did what we did in 1968.
During the Hong Kong flu, Americans rode buses less often, washed their hands, and practiced social distancing. But they went to work.
Medical technology has vastly improved from a time when people still did computations on slide rules. But the data it produces has seduced some into thinking that we know more than we actually do and that we can produce useful models to predict the course of this novel coronavirus disease.
They may be immune. My understanding is that the cruise ship and the aircraft carrier both saw a similar infection rate of 20%. While anecdote isn't data, we are seeing similar infection rates among other communities. Obviously the high infection rates in assisted living communities is higher, reaching 100% in some instances, but it's fair to say they are an outlier due to their age and general life expectancy (22 months on average from entering a home to death).
It's worth considering that the 20% may just be a hard limit on infection.
UNPRECEDENTED MASS TESTING. Influenza will never reached the scale covid will reach. The more you test, the more positives you find, but if each Flu season we test 3M elderly patients for influenza from now on or anyone who has comorbidities, I can guarantee you that INFLUENZA transmission and contagion statistics would blow up over night.
The pandemic measures put in place to “protect” front line workers has increased non covid and covid mortality. No chest compressions ordered in certain covid wards even if patient was Full Code, these orders were unprecedented.
I have nothing to do in the medical field, but if ordered these no chest compressions, and intubating people that test positive with just a cough sounds insane to me...what if you go against these orders and do what you feel is right, and humane?
I honestly wouldn't even care if hospitalizations were going up. You might get sick. That's always been a possibility. If you're especially at risk then stay home.
Every day we take risks knowing we might die. That's not an excuse to stop living life altogether.
Now that we know the virus isn't going to kill everyone we should get back to life.
I wouldn’t even care if I happened to be unlucky enough to die from this. No reason to shut down the world, and certainly never by government order.
“If you’re especially at risk then stay home.” <- I’m gonna take that a step further. If people want to stay home, then they should. And they should stfu about it when they do. The rest of us are just fine without those people.
the only way they got us to agree to lockdown is the models predicting that the medical system would be over run without it. the opposite has happened, the medical facilities are struggling to pay the bills. open up and let them treat a few patients!
The Democrats have been regurgitating a meme on social media asking any Republicans who want to end the lockdown to name the family members or relatives they were willing to sacrifice. It's a classic example of their moral and intellectual bankruptcy.
It never occurs to these idiots that by advocating ending the lockdown we are willing to accept any increased risk for ourselves and ALL of our friends, family members and relatives. That doesn't involve "sacrificing" anyone.
It's funny they care so much about peoples' family members now when they are for open borders and letting criminals out of jail...who are they willing to sacrifice for those beliefs? Appealing to their emotional base as usual.
I love how liberals are saying the deaths are Trump's fault. Meanwhile, ignoring Europe is in way worse of a position, but they refuse to acknowledge that. If Trump is stupid for his reaction, then EU leaders would have to be retarded
UK+Spain+Italy+France Population: 241 million
Deaths: 121k
US Population: 328 million
Deaths: 88k
Nearly 100 million less people, but 33k more deaths. It's really hard to ignore those numbers in the big European countries, but liberals find a way!
The covid numbers are compromised. You’re counted even if you’re SUSPECTED of having it with no actual test. The most objective thing to do is look at OVERALL hospitalizations (for any reason) and OVERALL deaths in the country. Compare with last year. Something tells me those truly objective numbers are down dramatically. My local hospital is laying off staff for lack of patients. Shouldn’t a pandemic result in more hospitalizations, not less?
A few days ago, there were stories about Texas having a 1 day spike in cases and deaths. A couple days later, we're back to being flat again. They were waiting for a red state that has opened to have a bad day to write their stories. Sure enough, as soon as those stories came out, I saw Karens on Nextdoor posting stories about it.
Dude I have all the numbers of every state and every country on my screen. The "spike" was from 20 to 30 deaths. OMG! 50% increase!!!!
Which is all you hear. You don't hear the actual number. You hear about that HUGE spike of 50%!!!!
Same with Brazil where they are all going after Bolsonaro, whilst I disagree with his methodology Brazil is doing better than Germany, you know the noble Momma Merkel leading the world in how you should stomp on Citizens right whenever they start coughing.
But all you hear is "Spike in deaths! Horrendous plague sweeping the nation!" same with Sweden. Whilst we meme on them everyday of the week they were all talking about how Sweden would totally have to face those consequences of not shutting down.
Meanwhile Globalist Belgium is leading the world in per capita deaths under a full lockdown.
National and local news all report the Monday cases every week, and claim the 30% or whatever surge from Sunday to Monday deaths and hospitalizations as proof "it's not over!"
Showing Monday to Monday metrics and it's declining just about everywhere.
I know that's what I was emphasizing. You can literally see it in the daily death reports where they do bump each week but the peak is lower each time.
I'm surprised this has been continuing, given the large decline. I don't trust anything the cdc does, but sometimes maybe some true data falls through the cracks and goes un-tampered
A thousand times yes. The hospitalizations reported all along have been cumulative and you have to do your own math to figure out how many are in there from the last few weeks and guess at how many might still be in there. The ACTIVE hospitalizations is the most important number not only because it's important on the face of it, but because THAT WAS THE DEAL. The deal was we cooperate with this bullshit to keep the hospitals from being overwhelmed. Then they refuse to hand over the data of how full the hospitals are even though they have it. At a presser here in Ohio a reporter finally asked at one point how many active ones there were and Acton didn't know but said she would get the number. Within minutes she had the number and answered the question. She didn't know? SHE DIDNT KNOW? That number is supposed to be the WHOLE GODDAM POINT! It was at the height of it here and the number of active hospitalizations even considering assumed cases was still under 1100 for the whole goddam state.
Great point. There’s a way to fudge the death numbers, and more testing leads to more positive. But the only number that tells how severe it is would be hospitalizations in general. Now this would take into account more than just covid so the only issue I could see is people in poor health die to the lockdowns increasing and confounding the data. Anything else that could potentially influence this?
Edit also more tests always increase the number of positive results
There's a reason why the media and many politicians were harping on testing, and probably still are. I've stopped paying attention to a lot of it unless it comes from sources I trust. They knew LOTS of testing would equal more cases. More cases means more ammo for them to keep pushing lockdowns. We all knew the left would go to any extent in 2020 to unseat Trump. They are willing to destroy a nation to do it.
Other democrat states may follow suit... hopefully they do.
Cuomo decided he killed enough elderly people... nursing home patients testing positive will remain in the hospital if positive for corona, they can't go back until they're negative.
Based on the hospital protocols to savage your lungs with a ventilator, would you try waiting it out at home instead? If I’m going to die, let it be on my own terms with loved ones able to make their own choices on being there or not.
Think we should look at death rates overall. What were they last year vs this year etc controlled by population. Based on my limited glances, yes, death rates are up but not close-down-the-country forever higher.
Two facts that inflate covid statistics:
UNPRECEDENTED MASS TESTING. Influenza will never reached the scale covid will reach. Yes it is data. What you want to do, RCT where your expose people to SARS-CoV-2?
I honestly wouldn't even care if hospitalizations were going up. You might get sick. That's always been a possibility. If you're especially at risk then stay home.

Site, change Display By to Weekly Rate https://gis.cdc.gov/grasp/COVIDNet/COVID19_3.html
And wtf is a "cumulative rate"? I've never seen data so blatantly misrepresented across the board.
I wish more people were numbers smart so they could understand this.
The cumulative rate exists to make idiots think it's getting worse, because that graph never goes down

Lol right. I'm tempted to post this data to reddit, I want to see how many genuinely respond to the good news with anger
as long as you dont care about your karma lol
Truth doesn't care about fake life points, lol
Syracuse univ. covid19 charts indicate new york state will continue to improve and people requiring hospitalization will end in about 2 weeks
Emoprers new clothes

Good point. Real data is the biggest threat to every big pharma scientist.
Curve flat. Reopen now.

Cause there's the weekend slump and monday bump.
That's exactly what I'm saying. The report the Monday bump as a "spike" and don't give the context that its a typical occurrence.
I know that's what I was emphasizing. You can literally see it in the daily death reports where they do bump each week but the peak is lower each time.
Thanks for the graph but I get my news from a 16 year old in Sweden or some shit. World is ending.
Thanks for the information. We are united...
Well that’s probably why the covid tracking website I use to keep track stopped posting that data on April 7.
I'm surprised this has been continuing, given the large decline. I don't trust anything the cdc does, but sometimes maybe some true data falls through the cracks and goes un-tampered
I want to see this posted to r/dataisbeautiful just to see how they respond to it
Yes.

I see the graph showing we killed off the elderly because Drumpf didn't do enough testing! Reeeeeeeeeee!
It's down everywhere. just look at bottom graphs here: https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps

Yet we are still in partial lockdown.

Every life owes a death. When, where, and what of, no one can control. No one.
These lockdowns end the minute polling data surfaces showing voters are attributing this collapse to the democrats
NY Is going up a little. But it's good
Other democrat states may follow suit... hopefully they do.

Old folks are going nowhere near hospitals in Democrat areas because they'll just end up a covid mortality statistic. Dems need cadavers.
This 100%
Lincoln was no saint.
