Instances where American citizens are on the other end of the gathered communication intel requires FISA court warrant order to "unmask" such Americans (as such communication is protected by the 4th Amendment.) Details of whom the citizen is and details of the communications are protected and confidential and the "unmasking" may be granted from the NSA to intelligence officials or other government officials. Investigation discusses DNC attributing the server hack to location in Moscow, RU while also asserting that maleware and other servers were hosted in Arizona were deployed by Russia’s GRU. The Steele dossier is based on many sources, not much from Russia. One man is Bielorussia. Another one who created the part talking about the Trump tower server pinging a Russian bank server (Alfa bank) is now confirmed in court to be Michael Sussman, an American lawyer. And finally, look at Ukraine for anything related to Paul Manafort in the dossier.
I'm struggling with sourcing. My goal is to cite lefty news for timeline and for solid evidence site direct sources from .gov or declassified documents or court filings.
Quick tip as for sourcing: NBC is CIA propaganda, so of course they said the dossier was just ´Russian sources’ But as far as I know most aren’t. I've updated the sourcing piece of the Dossier. I know NBC can't be trusted but it's more for timeline since lefty partisans won't believe more right leaning news outlets.
The OIG report shows a single source in Russia who says the info was totally exaggerated in Steele's version. The other version of the Dossier (Simpson and Corn) seem to be full of fusion bullshit.
Great ! I haven't read the OIG report yet. I knew the "russian disinformation" was wildly exaggerated because of the variety of sources but also it was an excuse to portrait Steele as a poor victim of disinformation.

Isikoff is the "journalist" (or leaker) used by Chris Steele to produce a yahoo news article that the FBI added on top the the Steele dossier to finally obtain the FISA warrant.
The FBI didn't succeed on the first try. The FISA judge refused because the Steele dossier wasn't enough. It was only one document. Steele essentially talked to Isikoff asking him to write about the same Russia collusion stuff that was already in the dossier, without naming himself as a source in the article. For the judge, that article became a "new" source of evidence claiming russian collusion with Trump. The Yahoo news article was added on top of the Steele dossier and the judge finally accept to deliver the warrant.
Are you mixing the two different servers? Don't confuse them. Hillary's illegal server was in one of her homes. It was illegal because she was managing her personal Clinton foundation while bringing State Department classified emails on it. Probably to do pay for play with foreign countries. When she's caught having that kind of server outside of government (I believe in 2014?) she received a subpoena form the US congress. That's when she destroyed evidence, filtering out the most embarrassing emails and using Bleach Bit to permanently delete them. THEN, and only THEN we started to hear that the server MAY have been hacked by foreign countries, including Russia PRIOR to their deletion. Any republican seeking these 33K deleted emails would now be in cahoots with Russia. She distracted people from the scandal by saying the material was illegally hacked and anybody who wanted these emails was somehow doing something illegal, doing evil Russia' bidding. This is the exact same strategy Hillary's campaign executed in 2016 to entrap Trump people. Misfud offered these allegedly "hacked" emails to Papadopoulos, claiming Russia had them, and Henry Greenberg also offered these same emails to Roger Stone. These emails probably don't even exist because she destroyed them with bleachbit and there is no proof of a hack.
That's why I never believed the DNC hack: it's the same tactic she used when embarrassed with her personal illegal server. Blame Russia. Say your were hacked. And hey, when the DNC leak happened, what did CNN Jake Tapper say? He said "It's illegal for you to read these emails" (because Hillary said they were hacked).

About the trump tower server, look for the recent testimony in court by Chris Steele himself. Alfa bank sued him and it’s all there. Steele said Sussman gave him the info that was added to his dossier. See? Not a russian source for that one.
