Didnt some data come out of China that smokers were less susceptible to severe illness because of some down regulation in there O2-CO2 exchange mechanism from smoking? Virus had little to no effect on them. I will see if I can dig up that article.
I'm a RN. Had a surgical patient last week with uncontrolled hypertension, hyperlipidemia, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and hyperparathyroidism among other lesser pathologies. 3 weeks prior to surgery he tested positive for Covid in the pre-surgical screening process. I looked through his chart to read up on his ICU stay but there wasn't anything. He was literally asymptomatic but for a small cough, and hung out at home for a few weeks. I know Covid is scare tactics, but this case takes the cake. Our hospital is pretty much shut down waiting for the Covid surge that will never happen. We get daily updates on the Covid patient census and the highest it got was 9 patients, with 3 in ICU.
Congrats to your grandfather for beating the COVID and the system!!! Many elderly in nursing homes have also beaten this thing, even those with comorbidities!!!
My mom also beat covid at 57 no critical problems. She was sick coughing for two days cough persisted for another week did two weeks of quarantine and now is out. My dad 70 sounded a bit sick for a while there but now seems to be healthier as well dad is 70. Fuck the fear mongering, I imagine the 30 something's that get covid and go into a critical medical state. Probably the best gene and the smartest people....
