there has not been any double blind placebo studies on vaccine safety with a true control group of unvaccinated subjects.

This could be easily remedied. Take the inert components of the vaccine and do a double blind study. The only response (which may be present with the placebo) should be systemic inflammatory/fever, which is how the body reacts to anything it perceives as a threat.

A different group could be done each year, and longitudinal studies done to see if there are long term effects. The one big problem in a long term study would be finding people who don't normally get vaccines and haven't had them before, that are willing to do the testing and receive the placebo/inert vaccine. Essentially, you would need enough life long anti-vaxxers willing to get a vaccine to prove whether vaccine components are dangerous.
