Didn't Charles Babbage (of English origin) invent the first programmable computer?
EDIT: Also, the UK seem to be very supportive of America? While it's arrogant Swedes and Danes who are mocking America while we financially back their still failing social safety net programs?
It's complicated. You could probably claim several dozen people over hundreds of years as having invented the computer depending how you frame it.
It's because people get credit as the inventor of the computer for having invented or discovered a significant element or process that contributes to computing, nobody simply invented the computers we use today, in their entirety. And from there people make arguments and cases for why they think X process/element is most important, and why Z person deserves credit.
Yeah, a lot of us love America and Americans. I personally have always been fascinated by the US and hope to visit someday soon.
I find it quite suspicious how these posts keep popping up. Most of them like this one are factually laughable and nearly always based on some assumed mocking attitude from us Brits. Reeks of insecurity of the individual posting it.
Also: "Hey guys, look over there, no, no don't look at what is happening in the US, look over there at the UK, at this thing I am suddenly 100% unquestioningly trusting the media about"
I wonder which group would want to sow discord between Trump Supporting Americans and Brits and attempt to distract from the still ongoing coup attempt in America? Hmmm.
