Because Ratliff is a prosecutor and is one of the handful of Repubs who saw and know and understand the implications of the secret testimony in the House since 2017. He knows who all the bad guys are and how to prosecute them. Hopefully he can come down on the Gang of Eight and the SSCI who have been in on all the anti-Trump efforts. It won't reflect well on McConnell.
That was my thought exactly; it doesn't seem like there was much resistance. If I remember correctly, I've read here on the win that he'd be a thorn in their eyes and that they'd take him over Grenell. So perhaps that's why there wasn't much resistance to his confirmation
They already denied him once, the Senate GOP under McConnell. They don't want any MAGA or sympathetic-to-America politicians in any position of power. They're buckling on Ratcliffe because they have no choice after getting played with the surprise Grenell transfer. They never thought confirming an ambassador to Germany would end up as the temporary spy chief.

The only Senator that gives a fuck about us is Rand. Look at the FISA reauthorization the Senate just passed. 80-16. The only two Republicans to vote against were Burr and Rand, and we know Burr is corrupt to the core. They are only confirming him now because POTUS forced their hand by putting Grenell in as Acting DNI, and they need Grenell out of their hair ASAP.
