The United States Attorney General (AG) is the head of the United States Department of Justice, the chief lawyer of the federal government of the United States, and a member of the Cabinet of the United States.
The title "Attorney General" is an example of a noun (attorney) followed by a postpositive adjective (general). "General" is a description of the type of attorney, not a title or rank in itself (as it would be in the military).
If he can't practice law he can't perform any of the functions of the office. He has to provide legal advice, which he can't legally do without a license to do so.
You sound like one of those sovereign citizen nutcases.
The Attorney General is the nation's attorney. He must be a prosecutor, which means he must be licensed as an attorney to prosecute.
Grenell may be your wet dream for the position and i also think he'd be fun to watch, but your arguments here are specious at best, so stop with the akschuallies.
Oh, you mean the organization that was created a century after his tenure?
STFU, moron, I'm not falling for that. I didn't say they needed to be approved by the bar, i said they had to be an attorney and licensed to practice law. At the time, he met the requirements for practicing law and was in fact an attorney.
Is that really the best you have? I expected more from people on this board.
I'd check my facts if I were you.
There is no legal requirement that the AG be an attorney. They always have been, but anyone nominated and confirmed can serve in the role.
Yeah, but lets not be the ones to start that precedent.
Sure. Let me break it down a little further.
Thanks for explaining what words mean. Doesnt equate to a legal requirement.
Read the job description.

How about you show me where it is written that Edmund Randolph was admitted to the bar.

How about you show me where he wasn't a lawyer? That was the point.
And if a libcuck gets back into office they’d be happy to appoint a transgender activist as AG. Has to be an attorney imo.
