The most powerful man in the world, the president of the united states, also a mega billionaire with access to everything, choose to take it.

To be honest, HCQ is one of the safest drugs around. It's been on the market since 1958. Lupus patients are using it continuously, no problems.

One may argue it doesn't work 100% (but nothing does, flu shots work 30-70%), but arguing its safety is a total reversal of truth.

MW23232 21 points ago +21 / -0

Per the Brietbart article in this post (and I changed it a bit) sociopathic media "and others", would rather see people die (and we absolutely have seen thousands die who probably would not have if the Left and MSM hadn't told everyone it did not work, if they had simply been prescribed HCQ, Zinc and a Z-Pak early on) of the coronavirus than saved by something Trump supports.

There have been all kinds of articles on the internet in the recent past by doctors around the US and the world, who regardless of what MSM, etc., said, used that combination on their own patients with great success. I have read many of them. IDK why people would just believe MSM, that it doesn't work. MSM hasn't been truthful to us for years, why would they on this subject? I believed the President, but luckily, so did doctors who were interested in trying to save lives.

Its called appealing to authority.

As long as the media can keep pushing that they themselves are a moral authority of Truth. People will not question the narrative that is given to them. That is why the tech firms and media work in concert because it destroys that pillar on which their whole house is built.

If you look at history, at the start of this nation hundreds paper and leaflet outlets existed in the colonies pre and post revolutionary war. Eventually money people started to figure out you could sway public thought through paper and sought to shink the access and distribution. We've seen though through history (the Pulitzer and Hearst spat is a great example), now we're seeing it happen in real time because of the internet has such a large reach. The powers at be can no longer keep the genie in the bottle. So they have to discredit it via logical fallacies.

3
MW23232 3 points ago +3 / -0

Like many think, unfortunately, & like I admit I even thought many years ago, "The MSM woulc not lie to us! Would they?"

3
MAGA_MEXICAN_CHILI 3 points ago +3 / -0

Honestly it is reinforced in pop culture. Clark Kent and Louis Lane for Daily Planet heavy in the silver age enforced this thought.

Probably why people didnt like Jay Jonah Jameson in Spiderman because he acted against Spidey instead of cheering him on.

Alex Marlow (of Breitbart) is rather dismissive of HCQ. If you call and ask about it, he'll ask where you got your medical degree. It's snarky, though he'll say "I don't mean to sound snarky.", as he does it. Anyway, there are all too many people who don't want HCQ+Zn to be effective, claiming there are no supportive studies.

That's an entire topic of its own, but there are enough success stories that if I find myself dealing with this bug, HCQ+Zn is the first thing I'm going after.

9
MW23232 9 points ago +9 / -0

People like the guy at Brietbart, talking like that, I feel is really not on POTUS side in the first place. I believe the President had info HCQ was the best bet from the start, and simply told us. I believed him. Since then, there is a lot of evidence from doctors that it works if people would just look around the internet. Plus, I know someone who takes HCQ for arthritis, and it doesn't cause problems for him. Plus I talked to a guy on here, he is in the medical field, and he had it BAD as did his Dad, and then another elderly man related to someone here. All had CV, all took HCQ and all survived. So I agree with you. First thing I'd take, even if I had to go out of the state to get it prescribed.

After being used or 60 years millions of times, all those new researches suddenly started finding HCQ dangerous is so bizarre.

3
zigmund_fraud 3 points ago +4 / -1

I'd be careful suggesting that HCQ causes no problems. My mom took it for an autoimmune issue years ago and began to go blind in one eye as a result. I'm thinking she was probably an extreme responder, as most medications tend to effect her more than the avg. person.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge advocate for the use of HCQ for autoimmune issues & COVID19 because it appears to work in most cases, at least that I'm aware of. I would just say that it is generally safe when used carefully and conservatively. Being totally black & white about it kind of undermines the legitimacy of an otherwise true statement.

5
trumplandslide 5 points ago +5 / -0

I hear you.

But compared to untested vaccines that is injected into your blood a 60+ year old medication is relatively safe.

For me personally, I prefer sunlight, sleep, exercise and good nutrition as my first line of defense.

2
zigmund_fraud 2 points ago +2 / -0

I agree with you 100% on this. I would likely recommend my mom take it again if she were to get a bad case of COVID. I'd just be adamant that they titrate the dosage gradually to avoid issues. Shit, I'd probably opt for HCQ over any vaccine that comes out.

"average people" don't concern themselves with the 0.00001% of edge cases in casual conversation.

That's what we're having here - casual conversation. If you're going to mandate that every statement include an uncountable number of caveats to cover every potential edge case, then nobody will be able to complete a sentence without collapsing from hypoxia.

1
zigmund_fraud 1 point ago +1 / -0

You're being rather dickish for "casual conversation."

Any reasonable person would likely want to know what the risks are before taking a medication. To suggest that there are none, or that they somehow only impact .0001% of those that take HCQ is just asinine. When people present HCQ like it is without risks it immediately makes them look misinformed and calls into question their credibility on the matter. That's the case with a massive number of medications, I'm not suggesting anything controversial here.

HCQ is not without risks, and should not be treated that way. THAT SAID, I still advocate for its use in testing COVID19 and autoimmune issues. It works. I think I'm being pretty reasonable here, so chill with the mean girls shit.

17
MW23232 17 points ago +17 / -0

The sick thing is, he did the research from the beginning and knew there was a good chance HCQ worked. The MSM and others immediately had to come after him as they do with everything he says, and went further and said it did not work and killed people who took it. In 2005, according to at least one report and article on the internet, CDC knew it was effective against coronavirus. So MSM and others are responsible for killing countless people in this country, not the President, as they have been accusing him of all along.

3
FormerGraveheart 3 points ago +4 / -1

Can you link to those reports from 2005? Redpilling others is easier with sourced facts.

4
MW23232 4 points ago +4 / -0

This is not the original article I had. The original article was not on Brietbart. I am still trying to rescue the original article and study from my stuck "sticky notes". This is similar, I think. I don't like to use Brietbart as a source, only because it is known to be pro-conservative, maybe not as likely to be believed as some other source, but it is difficult to find anything on a "google" search these days, and it does have the Virology report within it, so I am sending these for now. Be sure to look at the links within the articles as they lead tothe actual studies and who did them:

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/03/19/chloroquine-known-as-effective-against-coronavirus-since-2005/

Here is the study from article: https://virologyj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1743-422X-2-69

This is another link off of above brietbart article: https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/03/18/malarial-drug-chloroquine-effective-against-coronavirus/

2

Thank you, I will look through those.

1
MW23232 1 point ago +1 / -0

You are welcome. I really wish I had the original article and study. I trusted that one more than just taking this off Brietbart and no way to compare if it is at least the same study. I thought the other one was safe where I put it, and it obviously wasn't.

President Trump conferred with his physician, which means he handled his decision to take hydroxychloroquine in the exact right way.

Amazing how the news cycle has been reporting this as President Trump just deciding to take drugs that ARE dangerous - thanks Neil "it will KILL YOU" Cavuto. Everyone in the White House is having constant checks with the WH Physician and probably even more than that after some positive cases were identified there.

This is ludicrous.

This is a drug that is sold over the counter all over Asia and Africa. It has literally been taken by billions of people to treat and protect against malaria, and then lupus and rheumatoid arthritis since the 1940s and is one of the must-have drugs listed by the WHO. The safety profile of Hydroxychloroquine (H/CQ) did not just change after 70 years simply because the President touted it as a possible therapy. H/CQ has been an extremely low risk, commonly prescribed, (world)widely used drug by billions for 70 years.

It is considered safe for children, pregnant women and seniors. Hundreds of millions use it today. If H/CQ were that risky, hundreds of thousands of people in Africa and Asia should be keeling over daily from heart failure thanks to H/CQ. It is FDA approved. If it were truly even remotely a legitimate threat, there would be countless evidence, data and reports of its harm. There is none! According to the WHO (2017); "Despite hundreds of millions of doses administered in the treatment of malaria, there have been no reports of sudden unexplained death associated with quinine, chloroquine or amodiaquine, although each drug causes QT/QTc interval prolongation."

Source: WHO https://www.who.int/malaria/mpac/mpac-mar2017-erg-cardiotoxicity-report-session2.pdf

I mean, if you want to inform yourself and dunk of some libtards, CTR+F "Chloroquine" and read all the parts discussed, several significant sentences, bulletpoints and graphs that back up what we already know - the drug isn't dangerous, it doesn't cause heart attacks or cardio toxicity (confused with the QT interval prolongation), the case in which it was harmful was someone who had preexisted condition AND was overdosing on the drug AND taking it for a very long time. No shit. Tylenol will kill you too if your heart sucks, you eat a dozen of them once a day for a year.

*** Veteran Administration and Dept of Defense use 42,000 doses of this drug The on any given day. “The media has not reported this accurately, The Report (done on HydroxyChloroquine) was not a VA-study, researchers took VA numbers, they were not clinically reviewed, they were not peer reviewed and they did not even look at the various comorbidities that the patients in that study had. (underlying or preexisting conditions).”

I also like this:

"Researchers at NYU's Grossman School of Medicine found patients given the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine along with zinc sulphate and the antibiotic azithromycin were 44 percent less likely to die from the coronavirus. The study looked at the records of 932 COVID-19 patients treated at local hospitals with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. More than 400 of them were also given 100 milligrams of zinc daily. Researchers said the patients given zinc were one and a half times more likely to recover, decreasing their need for intensive care."

CDC handout for Hydroxychloroquine for malaria. https://www.cdc.gov/malaria/resources/pdf/fsp/drugs/hydroxychloroquine.pdf

Weird, seems pretty safe unless you take it for years.

Says pregnant women and kids can take it.

"CDC has no limits on the use of hydroxychloroquine for the prevention of malaria. When hydroxychloroquine is used at higher doses for many years, a rare eye condition called retinopathy has occurred. People who take hydroxychloroquine for more than five years should get regular eye exams."

Hmmm, doesn't seem dangerous.
