This is a good write-up by an old fan of Stern's who is disgusted by how much of a sellout he is now. He even took the time to write down all the loony stuff he said when he interviewed Hillary and kissed her ass.. yikes.
He also mentions the several times where he kissed up to Trump when he was on and all the nice things Trump said about the show. Stern never was greatful for what Trump did for him.
Really well written..... think it sums up what a lot of fans that were with him since the 90’s thought of his transformation. The last show I listened to was his interview with lance Armstrong. When I read about the Hillary interview, I boxed up all my old stern stuff and put it in the attic..... he was once great but turned to shit.
I just heard the Ol Dirty Bastard press conference show again not too long ago, and it still holds up 100% Some of the funniest shit ever, thanks to Artie. So glad he's still around!
My faves was the bits he did with Crazy Alice.. she'd be so loony but he'd always pipe in at the right time and just send her to orbit. The one where they play the Exorcist theme during it made me fall on my ass the first time I heard it.
Artie was great at jabs and being a smartass when he needed it but he was also cool with people and brought a lot to the show. Once he left Stern lost that humanity.
Very good article. I listened to Stern many years and still do on ocassion. It is unfortunate how he is alienating so many of his listeners right now. He's very tone deaf.
He treats Richard and Sal like shit, who brought the iron sheik on (Stern had no idea who that was, all Richard). I think Freddy hates him now, he’s just dialing it in.... no more belly laughs. When Fred got going it always cracked me up. Robin just agrees with everything now. Alienated every stand up comic that’s funny. Gary could care less about anything, he just rolls over...... you can’t do strippers forever, I get that but Gary the Conqueror???
When Artie left it was the beginning of the end. When Eric the midget (Zero point zero) died so did the show. Hanzi called it, he became imus.

Still love Artie!

Great article; thanks for sharing.
Once irreverent, now irrelevant.
