Don't want to come off as being too harsh, but I can tell you are pretty salty about my criticism of public school teachers. Aaaannnnd I don't have any sympathy if you are part of that machine. And FYI, that system is so fucked, it has permanently ruined my opinion of public education in general. So yeah, I have to home school, so I do have to teach, because people like you (assuming you are a salty teacher), who were supposed to advocate for me as a child, and children as a whole, toed the line and draw a check. And the real rub? Even though I have to "teach" and make curriculums, I STILL have to pay my taxes to fund a school system I don't even partake in. In school, I had to teach myself A LOT of shit, to the point school was a joke in high school, wasn't challenged, no one cared, and aced my tests. I did all the leg work, teachers just drew their checks. Then I had to deal with the indoctrination aspect on top of it all and actually had my grades impacted, because my accounts of history, went outside the bounds of the limited textbook passages. What should have been "extra credit" was actually harming the grade, because I dared to step outside the source material.
And maybe you didn't catch it my original passage, but teachers make shit and the system is corrupt at the mercy of the Peter Principle no less, so what about that would make me want to "rage against the machine?" It sure as fuck didn't help me from the student side. Remember those soul crushed teachers I mentioned? Yeah not for me. So, I am taking personal responsibility for educating not only myself and my contribution to the next generation. I took steps to be the change I wanted to see, by stepping outside the system.
Teaching isn't an easy job, but it's for dupes. And to the shitty ones, who draw the check and toe the line, poison the well of education that incurs a debt to society that will eventually come due, in spades of incompetence. Sorry, not fucking sorry.
