My gf is born and raised in Grand Rapids, she says the family and grocery chain are highly regarded and good people. Great news he’s running and awesome thing to do during these tough times with the groceries.
I've been in a few Meijers, and they're pretty based. Like a Walmart Supercenter, but even bigger and a bit more grocery-focused. Wouldn't mind seeing them extending their market down to Texas.
This guy is a genius. Give someone food they tell their family and neighbors, you just expanded your voting base 3 fold easy. Plus he gets to show that conservatives are people of action and libs sit on their ass asking to handouts.
Like giving out turkeys in the inner city before Thanksgiving. I don't see this as a negative at all: It's Gerald Ford's old district, fucking Justin Amash is a full-blown cuckold, there are a whole lot of needy people in GR and here's a guy whose family has done well slanging groceries regionally and he's providing food to the community. Sorry, dude/chick, but you really sound like a dick here.
It's my understanding that bribery means giving someone something in exchange for something else. It's no like they are saying, " you only get this food if you vote for me". It's more like, "I care about the community and here's an example. If you're into it, vote for me in a few months". Big difference.
I don’t think there’s as big of a difference as you may think. I guess the best example to think about are obamaphones. If you are running for govt office and you are giving free handouts of any kind I think it’s questionable. I appreciate what he’s doing just not sure if it’s appropriate.
What's the difference between that and, "if you vote for me I'll give you $1000 a month"? Or "if you vote for me I'll give you xxx more in welfare"? That's actual bribery, not giving someone something and then also happen to be running for office. I'm not sure he wouldn't be doing this even if he wasn't running. If it's helping the community, I'd hope he'd do it regardless. I don't think he's breaking any laws but I'm not a lawyer.
They are a family of good caring people. They have done wonderful things for the Grand Rapids community.

First I've heard he's running. I will back him.
GOOD JOB! VOTE FOR THIS GUY!

Democrats talk. Trump supporters do.
I remember Meijer thrifty acres as a kid
Sorry to sound like a dick here but isn’t this bribery?

Giving voters turkeys is ok? Then Trump should drive through cities tossing out value meals.
