Lets assume your 35 years old and get the flu. A few days later you come to see me in the hospital.
You probably, as a young person, have a super imposed bacterial pneumonia that is complicating your Flu-A.
Then you die of the subsequent respiratory failure, severe sepsis etc.
Then a few days later I get your death summary to fill out.
I have four lines to out line the time line of events leading to your death in order from recent to first.
So I leave off flu and just write: 1. Acute hypoxic respiratory failure. 2. Severe sepsis 3. Acute bacterial pneumonia.
At this point I can now submit your death certificate as I listed something you can “die from”. This is odd to most people, but I can not just write “sepsis” and walk away, as you can not die of a “syndrome.” Make sense?. Good. Us either sometimes.
But in a world with never ending paperwork. I stop and bacterial pneumonia and move on as the system will accept that.
Sorry for the long explanation, but the TL:DR is that you probably do if you know someone who died if pneumonia during flu season.
No problem. TBH it is nice that you actually read all that. So thank you!!!
It is funny. I have complained for years about this, as I feel ppl would get their flu shots if they understood just how bad it is when “shit gets real. ” But now we have shifted the pendulum the other way to make Trump look bad.
It is maddening to me how we are counting and comparing “flu” vs sars-cov-2 regardless as it is done in no meaningful medical way and now just a bastardization to promote agendas. And when people do try and do it in a way that would mean something or be standard they are torn apart, which hampers better understanding. Democratics are not only harming ppl they are retarding advancement as well. Party if science my ass.
Problem with a lot of flu deaths is this:
